Wiped out the Timurids, but...
... turns out they re-horde like the horde factions in RTW:BI.
Hadn't seen this piece of info here, and just thought people might like to know.
Story:
I have a crusading army almost to Antioch (held by Mongols), but the Timurid horde shows up on the scene with 6 or 7 stacks. I think "Bad time to be in Antioch. I'm just going to hang low nearby for a while and see what happens".
The Timurids end up taking Antioch. They leave about half a stack in Antioch, and then most of their stacks head off to points north.
I see all this and think, "Hey, they only have one settlement, if I take Antioch, no more Timurids". So send my army in and take it that turn. All of the Timurid stacks around Antioch start disappearing from the map.
Just as I'm patting myself on the back for my strategic genius, a bunch of new Timurid stacks show up around Jerusalem - which I hold. Then I get the "People in flight" scroll.
Re: Wiped out the Timurids, but...
Yeah, that's what makes them a little bit more difficult than other factions.
Re: Wiped out the Timurids, but...
Awesome. Kick their butts while they are in flight.... weeeeeeeeeeeee !!!
No seriously that is awesome. Wish I could do that too.
Re: Wiped out the Timurids, but...
Wow - good discovery (and good feature, CA). :2thumbsup: Is this also true of the Mongols - ie has anyone wiped them out? Or rather, anyone taken their last settlement - I guess they still need a general in order to horde.
Re: Wiped out the Timurids, but...
In BI, playing as the huns, I took the sassanid settlement first, while he had all family members inside.
Well, I won the siege and killed all the members, but as his town fell he just turned into a horde and spawned a few new family members (including faction leader)
So I guess that's what would happen with mongols/timurids too.
You have to take out all family members without taking his last town to really wipe em out. Or just take his town and then deal with the horde...
Re: Wiped out the Timurids, but...
In BI there was a limit on how many times a horde could re-spawn. I think you had to take them down 3 times to eliminate them, IIRC, but each successive re-horde would get smaller.
Re: Wiped out the Timurids, but...
Yes, the Mongols do this too. In my Byzantine campaign, they settled in Kiev and promptly left it with a small garrison. I had the Byzantine Assassination Division (tm) over there, so I promptly dropped a couple of spies into the settlement and sabotaged the barracks, church and tavern. The city revolted 2 turns later and I got the People in Flight message.
