Trabzon and Constantinople have no road connection ?

Hi !

Am I missing something or it's true that Trabzon and Constantinople have no road connection ? I don't see any road connection. Is there a reason for this ?

I have the same problem -- it seem the only place it's roads go are to the port right next door and to Tbilisi. I have yet to upgrade the roads there to paved but I doubt it makes a difference. If you're trying to move units to Trebizond from anywhere else in Asia Minor (Nicacea, Iconium, Caesarea, etc) you're in for slow going.

Thats just as bad as Arguin being able to build ports and merchant wharf line buildings but not getting any sea trade due to some weird water block between it and Marrakesh.

Yes. You have to go inland to get between the two by land.

This may be a flaw -- or may not. By sheer accident, I read once that much of the coal for the battlecruiser "Goeben" in World War I came from the Trebizond area. Something as bulky as coal had to come by sea anyway, but lots of other coastal shipping was present too because the terrain was so difficult. The Russian navy frequently attacked that shipping.

I'll stop rambling now, and ask somebody from Turkey or familiar with the road system that survived the Romans answer this.

The province of trebizond as depicted in m2tw was historically the homeland of the "Great komninoi" dynasty which settled there after the fall of constantinopole in 1204.The empire of trebizond lasted till 1461 when it fell to the turks.
From what i know and have read it is a mountainous territory with only a narrow strip of fertile land between the mountains and the sea.there were all the important cities during the byzantine period.
But being mountainous doesnt mean it had no road connection to the capital of the empire.So i think it is historically inaccurate not to have roads between trebizond and constantinopole.
Maybe CA made it this way because they didnt want the turks to have an easy way to constantinopole?

If it works like RTW , I remember C/A mentioning there is a code that places roads automatically between settlements depending on terrain layout and distance .
It appears the code decided the terrain between Constantinople and Trebizond wasn't viable for a road link .

To move troops from Caesarea to Constantinople it appears the fastest route is through Trabzon, without a road connection. So the army goes over land. There is a strip next to the coast that could have a road, there is also a long valley which could have a road. Nonsensical it seems, not to have one.
