Hi !
Just reached Gaza, trying to build watchtowers down south by the Red Sea. Would'nt let me so I moved north and tried next to the Med, no luck. Tried everywhere and I could not build any watchtowers in Gaza province.
Can anyone please confirm this ? Is it a bug ?

You can't build any watchtowers in the open desert regions. That includes Gaza, the entirety of the Tripoli province, and all of the northern Sahara around Timbuktu, the latter of which you can't even move armies through.
I just broke my oath not to touch M2TW till after I finish my essay just to try this for you :p
I can build watchtowers jsut fine in my Turkish campaign. All the way along the border to egypt and also inland of Gaza. Even right next to the water.
I am suspecting you can't due to a natural disaster messing things up for you.
You cannot build a watchtower directly next to another structure. So, you can't build one in the space next to a city or a port. You can't build one next to an existing fort, but you could always wait until the fort goes away and build it then.
You can't build a watchtower directly next to a character or army from another faction, no matter if allied, neutral or enemy.
You can't build a watchtower in provinces currently suffering from certain disasters, mostly flash floods and earthquakes I think.
Assuming none of these are the problem, has there been a disaster in Gaza previously in the game? There is a bug where sometimes the disaster gets "stuck", and the province is treated as damaged for the remainder of the game.
The "natural disaster" bug was my first thought. It seemed logical enough to me that you couldn't build something during an earthquake. Then sapi set me straight and informed me that (sometimes?) you can't build in that province ever again. I think it made the fix list.
I can confirm the bug still exists in M2TW. Reloading a quicksave made on a turn when a natural disaster strikes renders the province unbuildable until another disaster strikes.
Yeh, that'd be my guess too - i've heard reports of people not being able to build anything in a province which has had a natural disaster until the next one comes around. afaik it seems to be caused by loading/saving in that turn.Quote:

OK seems that this is a bug as stated. I can't build watchtowers in Tripoli either, must be related. Anyway I can build everythng else in the settlements so it's no big issue. Thankfully.
