OMG I Finally WON!
After two failed campaigns with the English i FINALLY won! It took me forever, and just as i won the Timurids found me too. I was never able to win in RTW (which seemed harder because every damn city would go rebel), and i finally won in this. it feels good lol. questions:
1)If you continue playing after you win, does it still go by rounds? does it end?
2)If i select no to the continue will i still be able to play as other factions? does it unlock something? i checked and they were there, but im scared itll go away lol.
3)can you play as the Mongols or Timurids?
4)What are some fun factions to play with?
5)I finished with around 30 turns left...is this average? seemed like it took way too long.
6)should i wait for the patch before starting a new campaign?
7)Any mods recommended?
8)any final things to do post victory? lol
thanks a lot

Re: OMG I Finally WON!
I'm still creeping through my first long campaign, also as the English, so I can't answer #1 or #2, but in past games #1 was possible if you reload the last turn.
#3) I think some people have modded so you can, not sure.
#4) Don't know, but I think I'm going to Venice next.
#5) I don't think that sounds too long, but then I don't play the blitz style that some people do. I think I'm going to try 2 turns per year for my next game.
#6) Considering that the patch is *supposedly* due out on the 15th, I would wait. Play a few historical/custom battles if you're jonesing for a fight.
#7) Some people have modded the game to one or two turns/year (instead of 2 the years/turn default) and other small tweaks. There will probably be a big honking mod out there about 48 hours after the patch with the unpacker is released, too, if I know our modding community.
#8) You aren't the only one wishing for a 'scoreboard' type of thing. Sigh.

Re: OMG I Finally WON!
the factions will definately remain unlocked regardless of what you do!
mongols and timurids are not unlockable in vanilla - there are some mods which make them available though.
it is certainly possible to finish quicker - but not necessarily more fun. i guess i would be classed as a blitzer as i tend to expand rapidly from the outset.
fun factions - something completely different turks or moors, egyptains, russians or byzantines.
sicily would invlove fairly similar tactics to engish but in a different region.
poland has my favourite unit - mounted nobles!
prob best to wait for patch
things to do post victory? have you conquered the new world yet?

Re: OMG I Finally WON!
+1 for going byzantines - they have a great early setup, but it's very difficult to maintain it.
For a comparison, as the byzantines my treasury never went over 30k (and it only got that high thanks to sacking a city in that turn). In my current english campaign, i haven't dipped below 160k in a hundred years (both on vh/vh)

Re: OMG I Finally WON!
thanks a lot guys! so if i choose to continue will it still go by rounds and finish at 225 or whatever?

Re: OMG I Finally WON!
Congrats man. I would have a go as the Egyptians if I was you. :egypt:
They have some nice cavalry, and its always fun to try a Jihad. Its also a blast to defend the Holy Land from the infidel crusaders! You will have a nice strong starting position, and enemys that fight similar to you in the beginning so you can get used to the new style of warfare fast.
Load up your armys with Mamluk Archers and Mamluk Lancers and you cant go wrong. I would suggest reading my Egypt guide in the M2TW guides forum here in the Guild.

Re: OMG I Finally WON!
I haven't completed a long English campaign yet but after a few short campaigns went for the Turks. It's pretty hard.
I'm not used to fighting with HA or so many missile units, plus the region you're in is pretty tough. No pope to appease, little cash, Byzantine breathing down your neck, crusades rolling through your lands, invasions by Mongols and Timurids, longer travel times, lots of FOW in your own lands, no safe haven like England or Spain, Egyptians to the south, heretics popping up everywhere, Catholic infidels to slaughter and a fair amount of rebel provinces to conquer. :dizzy2: You could try that for a challenge. :juggle2:

Re: OMG I Finally WON!
if i choose to continue will it still go by rounds and finish at 225 or will it just keep on going forever?
-
Re: OMG I Finally WON!
It will keep on going forever.
My question: if I finish a campaign and win, but choose to continue, then will historical events still occur after the fact? For example, if I beat the campaign before the world is round, then will the world become round if I choose to continue?
-
Re: OMG I Finally WON!
It may just be me, but i think the world's always been round :P
And i'm pretty sure that the events will continue to pop up.

Re: OMG I Finally WON!
I've been playing the TW series for years, and I've yet to finish a campaign.
I usually stop at the point where I know that I've won. That, or I get really tired of waiting for gunpowder to pop up and I don't see tercios in the near future, so I get a hankering to play with my two handed sword weilding german killing machines.
