Want more interesting Portraits in the game?
There was enough art in Knight of Honor for me to create better Middle Eastern, Western and Eastern European Generals, princesses, and witches...

You can change these mid game no problems. Drop and replace the old directories; read unPAKker instructions on how to activate on HD data rather then PAK file data.
Re: Want more interesting Portraits in the game?
Can we have some examples of the portraits please ? I'd recommend adding this to the download so that people can see the enhancement before they download.
Re: Want more interesting Portraits in the game?
There are samples at the link. There are about 500 unique portraits total, I think.
Re: Want more interesting Portraits in the game?
Weird. I don't see any. I see only one per type. Can you give me linkage please ?

The text says:
Better Eastern European Generals : And NO they do not stretch like the sample image, ignore that. They look fine in the game.! Here ... [more] (8.54 MB)
Click on more (its a link) That takes you to file download, in which the portraits are located.

Yep there is one per type as shown- but if you download the file there are hundreds in the ZIP file. You install the folders in the ZIP to the game. Beyond this level of instruction, however, I need to leave you on your own...
You can browse through the images in the zip file if you like- they are not encrypted in any magical way- use Paintshop pro or something. They are just TGA files.

Re: Want more interesting Portraits in the game?
Where does the Portrait folder go exactly? I have unpacked my installation, but I haven't found a portraits folder. Does it go under the "data" folder? Or is the main folder sufficient?
EDIT: After some extensive searching, I finally found the folders. They are found in the data\ui\ folder. So, if you want to install the portraits, you have to search the relevant folder in the Ui folder and then overwrite the "portraits folder". So, if you want to install the Western Portraits, you would have to extract the zip into the data\ui\northern_european folder.
I'll go test it out tonight.

Well, I think the install instructions are as followed:
1) Create a mod folder
To start the game using a mod, first create a new folder in your M2TW directory (for example fishpants). A mod directory will require the following folders to work
data/world/maps/campaign/base
data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign
and the following files and folders
data/sounds/events.idx
data/sounds/events.dat.
So, put all those folders and the files into your mod folder.
If you have the disk space, copy the whole data folder just to be safe. This will take about 3,4 GB though.
You also have to create a new batch file (create a new text file and rename the file extension to .bat) in your MTW2 directory. First, create a text document and add this to its:
Code:
medieval2.exe @mod.cfg
Be sure to change mod with the name of your mod (in my example, that would be fishpants). Save the text document, then rename it to .bat
The .bat file goes into the main M2TW directory.
Then create a copy of your medieval2.preference.cfg, rename it to the name of your mod (for example, fishpants.cfg) and make your changes. Be sure to add the following line to the .cfg file.
Code:
[features]
mod = mymodfolder
Save the file and put it into the main directory of M2TW.
2) Create the following folders in your mod folder
data\ui\middle_eastern
data\ui\eastern_european
data\ui\southern_european
3) Extract the zips into the right folder
Extract the "Better Middle Eastern Portraits.zip" in the data\ui\middle_eastern folder.
Extract the "Better Eastern European Generals.zip" into the data\ui\eastern_european folder.
Extract the "Better Western Europe Portraits.zip" into the data\ui\southern_european folder.
4) Launch the mod using the bat file you created.
5) Enjoy!
And now, I'm gonna take a typing break.
Re: Want more interesting Portraits in the game?
I don't see the mod at that link???:help:
Re: Want more interesting Portraits in the game?
Uhmmm... me either, I'm afraid... :wall:
Re: Want more interesting Portraits in the game?
Sorry. TWC yanked it for "illegal activity." However, I'll ask the developers of KoH if they would be OK with this mod. Personally, I don't see it as illegal, but whatever.
They hate me over there. :2thumbsup:

Re: Want more interesting Portraits in the game?
Just wondering... /is/ there a working link to this mod? It sounds really cool; I find the default portraits...well, I think an enhancement would be awesome :)
I checked the link to the forums download section (the second one, not the first one originally given thats now broken) but I don't see it.
Re: Want more interesting Portraits in the game?
Total side note; How is KoH? I've heard mixed things and it was so low on the radar that I assumed it to be a budget flop.
Anyone got an opinion?
