Where is your ideal holiday destination?
Hello everybody,
Just wondering where your dream holiday destination would be.
For me it would have to be the lands of northern Canada, in Winter. Strange destination, but good for me. Mostly because I like the cold. However if you think about it there would be all sorts of things to see and do up there. You could watch bears from a distance, go walking through forests, looking at beautiful views of lakes, sitting next to warm fires in log cabins etc. Ah the good cold life.
So where would you go and what time of year?
Avlvs

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
Canada, a lovely place. One of the best holidays I've ever had...
My ideal destination? There isn't one, really. I'm happy as long as I can travel around from one place to the next, and can generally enjoy a different world than the one I'm used to. I loved travelling around Crete, but also roaming through London; as long as I'm not sitting still it's good.

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
The Colonies. Any one, i'm not too fussed...

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
I'm fine where I am. I love the British climate, but the summers are getting to be a bit hot. Darn global warming! Anywhere else in the world with mild winters and a summer season where the temperature rarely makes 25 celsius?

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
Finmarken is a good place and one of the best holidays I've had was trekking in Nepal

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
I have a few 'dream destinations'
Norway- Lofoten (most realistic to be going to anytime soon)
New Zealand (looks gorgous, too bad it's the other side of the world)
West Canada - North West US (the Rockies, I want to see bears !)
Hawai (tropical islands with vulcanos)
Iceland (more vulcanos, and ice !)
And a hell of lot of other places I also *really* want to visit.

The Rockies are in the western US/Canada. The east has the Appalachian mountain range. The east has mainly black bears, brown bears (including grizzlies) are west.
My ideal holiday destination would be a place with lots of snow and outdoor activities. Snow bunnies are a plus.

The Rockies are more breathtaking. Especially once you get into the Kootenai Ranges of Northern Montana, Southern Alberta, and Eastern Idaho. Actually the Elevation is technically lower than anywhere else in the Rockies, but the Mountains just sort of jut out of the ground. Oh... and theres bears...lots and lots of em'. I miss home sometimes~:(

I am quite surprised by how many people say NZ would be one of their ideal holidays. I don't think it's bad I have just never thought of it as that interesting. If any Orgahs happen to come to NZ they should definitely come to Rotorua, one of the most interesting cities (for tourists). My family would be more than happy to billet any Orgahs on a tour of NZ, we usually have exhange students staying with us so it wouldn't be much different. :2thumbsup:
Anyway, myself. I like travelling so anywhere in Asia, Europe, North Africa or the Middle East.

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
Iceland. For the third time, for me.
I have just found out there is a five day trail across the lava fields to Askja (a big volcano in the middle of nowhere). I realise that this is not exciting news to everyone, but I think that may very well be where I am going this summer...
I like holidays that combine time to think with physical activity.
One day I will also get to Iran, to see the sites. That will be more family friendly. I love the middle east, when people aren't trying to kill each other.

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
I really want to go to Canada or New Zealand to watch the incredible nature. I mean Canada has bears how awesome is that. Need some nightlife as well, and Toronto is supposed to be a pretty fun city in the summer.
If I want to experience some mediteranian culture, Benidorm ~;)

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
Aah holidays, the sun, the sea and the golden sand.
I personally love Greece in spring time. The terrain is beautiful, the temperature is not too hot, the people are friendly and the cheese is glorious, especially on freshly baked bread with olives. Another great thing is that you can see the glory of classical history almost everywhere you go. There is the acropolis at Athens and the ruins of Sparta. If you explore further into the countryside you can see how glorious greek food is produced. There is also a large amounts of bars and posh restaurants in Athens for night out with splendid food. I would most certainly suggest a holiday in sunny Athens to anybody.

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
Sicily/Northern Italy (would be Naples, but it's too damn humid).
I love the organised chaos and insane drivers.

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
I'd really like to go to Canada also. I love camping and hiking, and an outdoors holiday in the terrain they have there would be wonderful.
Rio sounds nice as well, mostly for the ladies, to be honest.

We'll have booze and broads waiting for ya at the airport. :2thumbsup:
A couple of buddies are planning a road trip to B.C. next summer. They might drive up B.C. through the Rockies to the Yukon. If so, I'm going to fly to Whitehorse and meet them. From there it's a day's drive to Dawson and another up the Dempster Highway to Eagle Plains and the Arctic Circle. A dream come true for me.
I was in the Yukon several years. Incredible terrain. Huge and empty. I've always wanted to go back. I like a place where you get woken up by the dog barking in the hotel room next to you. Woof.

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
Canada/Iceland is a little too cold for me, beautiful, but cold. I prefer a warm sun, blue seas and golden sands.

Re: Where is your ideal holiday destination?
I guess somewhere in the carribean or the middle east.
Preferably a place with not too many insects though, I really like the winters here for the lack of insects...
But there are many beautiful places on earth, a second trip to South Africa might be nice as well, Australia, Canada, the US, Mexico, South America, north africa, so many places for so many different reasons, some closer european countries are worth a visit as well, but I'd go for the more different countries first if possible.:2thumbsup:

I had one of the best meals (one course only though) for a little over 50 bucks in an Oslo tavern, it was truly phenomenal ! :2thumbsup:
Avoid alcohol and cut down on your meat consumption and it's doable. Just.
