movement rates
hi
i am trying to figure out how to calibrate the movement rates in mt2. i am using the winning combo 1.2 mod, with some additional changes:
- i removed priests, merchants, diplomats, spies, and assassins
- i set the timescale to .25 (3 months per turn)
the timescale changes have secondary impacts, like the building development rate and the aging of generals.
my question is about the movement rate of units. spain is about 400 miles across (approximately). it takes an infantry army about 4 turns to cross it, or about 100 miles a turn. i figure an army like that can march about 5 miles a day (is this realistic?). that means it takes 20 days - or about a month, to march that far. i am thinking that i have to change the timescale to a month per turn to make it realistic, or perhaps increase the movement of the units by a factor of 3. i do not like the latter option, since one turn can put units all over the place.
has anyone thought about this? i would like to hear your opinion.
what is a realistic movement rate for medieval infantry armies?
thanks, and salute!
