The workers, some of them pilots, said the object didn't have lights and hovered over an airport terminal before shooting up through the clouds, according to a report in Monday's Chicago Tribune.

The Federal Aviation Administration acknowledged that a United supervisor had called the control tower at O'Hare, asking if anyone had spotted a spinning disc-shaped object. But the controllers didn't see anything, and a preliminary check of radar found nothing out of the ordinary, FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory said.

''Our theory on this is that it was a weather phenomenon,'' Cory said. ''That night was a perfect atmospheric condition in terms of low (cloud) ceiling and a lot of airport lights. When the lights shine up into the clouds, sometimes you can see funny things.''

The FAA is not investigating, Cory said.

There were many witnesses, so it's not necessarily a hoax. Maybe it's a secret, experimental military aircraft, kinda like the supposed uber hi-tech, "anti-gravity" ship TR-3b ("black triangle") that had many sightings including the ones videotaped in Belgium and Phoenix.

The one in Belgium was actually intercepted but its movements were pretty radical, like changing a of altitude of 3,000 feet in a second.

So, in strict truth I seem 'em every day. Each plane overhead to me is unidentified. As are some objects that might indeed be birds...

True / false? About as relevant as how many angels can fit on the head of a pin.

Heh, false. Angels do not follow the laws of physics. And they are describing something inorganic, not like a bird. :)

Well all that money getting pumped into military research has to produce results sometimes...

I don't understand why everyone seems to be attacking the observers, there were twelve of them, seeing the same thing, hard to imagine they all were drunk.

They just had the first flights of some stealth fighters, how on earth should they have flying saucers already? And by the Gs those things seem to pull when accellerating, how could any livinbg beings survive that? But aliens are most likely made of rubber and jelly so they will just become pancakes on the floor while accellerating and then return to their original form.:clown:
