Corruption is eating alot of my income!
Hiya guys, I'm having major problems in my scottish empire at the moment. :help:
I own the entire old world except for one little rebel village which still resists me.

Now I have half my cities upgrading themselves which is chewing up a fair bit of income :juggle2: (all but about 15k per turn), but I am missing out on 68,000 florins per turn to Corruption!
This is seriously out of control! Is there anyway I can get corruption down or gone completely? I'd hang death threats of the heads of my tax collectors but the game won't let me do that. The Free Kilt Wearing World needs your help!
Thanks in advance, Durallan.
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
Law bonus kills corruption. Moving your capital to cut down on distance penalties also helps.
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
thank ye for that, does anyone have any good tips on where a capital would probably be best? my current capital is Budapest, it seemed the most central location for the whole old world.
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
sorry to double post but I thought I'd add my financial report if anyone can figure it out.

Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
Somewhere central or close to your largest concentration of high-income cities.
You might also want to check on your governors and move them out if they have lots of negative traits.
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
Just send every family member into the wilderness.
That will stop a lot of the corruption.
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
Feel free to dismiss my advice, given your obvious success and the size of your Empire, but you could do much to ofset the corruption by improving your trade revenues.

I dont know wether owning the map reduces your merchants effectiveness.
Disclaimer #2
I currently have 15 Florins in my treasury... Enough for a kebab and a bottle of tramp juice.
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
Just try setting your capital to different possible locations to check corruption levels. I find that Zagreb, Ragusa, or Venice are often among the best candidates.
Budapest sounds a bit too far to the east. Since you are playing a Western faction, the western cities are probably better developed. Furthermore, the cities to the east are more spread out (steppes etc.)
Move out all governors (income can even triple due to copious vices at this stage).
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
Cant change capital willingly I think, at least in my game
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
Click on the settlement construction window. Then at the bottom, the little button saying show settlement details. Then at the bottom of that scroll, a similar little button saying set as faction capital. I know its well hidden.
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
yea I just figured that out while working on my portugle campaign :)
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
I think the king acts as a mini-capital himself as well so that might help stifle some of it. At least it seems to be the case, I haven't made any test-case studies yet but that sounds like fun about now....
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
Some generals and some assassins get +law bonus, put them in the corrupt cities.

Hehe, this kinda sounds like the beginning of Asterix. "All of Gaul is conquered. All of Gaul? No. One tiny gaul village doesn't stop to resist the intruders..." I am sure it does not go like this in English I was translating from German.
Re: Corruption is eating alot of my income!
Sometimes you gotta get tough and cull the herd as they say. Find the cities giving you the most problems and pull out and let it go rebel. Recapture it and sack/exterminate it. One possible solution anyway. :shame:
