I've noticed that once you have Cathedrals in your cities, priests that you train come out as Bishops. Are these any better at conversion and denouncing heretics than regular priests?

The higher their piety, the better they are.
D'oh! Should have read the thread right below mine. Bishops get +1 piety.
Yes, indirectly. Bishops have +1 piety over normal priests. However, the bishop trait gets replaced by the cardinal trait if they get promoted, so they don't get an extra +1 over that later.
Also i've noticed that bishops only come from cathedrals, not Huge Cathedrals, which must be a bug.

Ofcourse, if you don't want to change and poke around the data files, you can just pull up the console, aim at the priest you want to promote and "give_trait this bishop"
Bishop and Cardinal status are just hidden traits. Cardinals get Heresyimmunity though, which is good.
