Again talking about Bribery!
Hello everyone.
Yesterday, reinstalled RTW, patched it up to 1.5 and started a new campaign with the Julii on E/E (Was intending to finish it fast so I can play with my favorite Carthage). Now, I don't know if it is the difficulty (I've always played on VH/VH), but bribing is so easy. So is "gaining money". In fact, I need to get creative how to lose money.. I have all my cities' (Gaul, Spain, North Africa and Salona's area) construction queues full, but I just keep getting more money! I've bribed in like 4/10 of my cities, and I never really faced an enemy army in a field battle. (You need to get rid of cash, BRIBE). The thing is.. The annoying thing actually, bribing doesn't cut it! The most expensive folks asked for 30k! That's like a turn's profit after I spend everything I can! I give gifts, but they aren't always accepted! I got forced to spend 2 turns after the 50k mark (Around 80-90k), and my generals got those expensive taste traits..
The point of all this. Why is bribing so "inexpensive" (Full Carthagian stack deserted at the price of only 11k, while it was the last army to protect the lands of Carthage. One of their family members joined me for only 8k, deserting his 1/4 stack and the giving me the fort he was in, etc..)? Is it the difficulty?
P.S. I believe it is around 245 BC
Re: Again talking about Bribery!
The price I don't think changes with difficulty, however making money does. Play on vh/vh if you want to see how it really works.
Re: Again talking about Bribery!
He said he usually plays on VH/VH. On E/E every thing the game is so biased in your favor. So naturally, bribing is easier as well. Personally I have never played VH/VH, but I have played a bit of H/H(I'm more of a M/M player), and even compared to M/M, you can spend so much less to get so much more concerning bribery.
hope that helps.

Investigation of Bribery Costs
You don't have to play the Julii to play Carthage. With a little bit of modding you can play who you ever you like.

I guess I know that mate. It is just the trouble of closing the game, editing descr_strat and then re-launching it that might have removed the idea from my mind!
