Re: Individual soldier stats
I know that unit xp is calculated on average, so there may be. But im guessing no.
Id love it if there was though! Goooooo Combo Man!!
Re: Individual soldier stats
Doubt there's a file outside of the save that tracks that. Since the valour of the unit displayed is an average and not every unit has that valour then there must be something tracking it. Whether it's tracking the individual soldier, or tracking the % makeup of that unit wouldnt be able to tell. More then likely this is all in the save and hardcoded.
Re: Individual soldier stats
True, but you should be able to see it.

It would be cool to see, especially for some of the custom units I have made for my game.
yes in MTW you could get battle logs whihc gave you each combat cyce and individual soldier stats. you had to enable battle logs before they were saved. i dont know if M2TW has this feature have to check when i get home. did Rome have this?
MTW tracked kills and valour per soldier although valour was displayed as an avarage combat took into account individual soldier valour when calculatinf attack and defence values. I hope M2TW does the same.

(Warning to mods, this post is not intended as CA bashing. I like CA, they make good games, merely a jest)

You want CA to do some real advanced work?

well they were already doing it in MTW i wouldnt expect them to go backwards when they make a newer game.
Re: Individual soldier stats
:laugh4: But think of it this way.
New Engine, lots of work to do, making the file work = lots of work to test it out.
Workaround = Dont do the file.
Re: Individual soldier stats
actually i never looked at the log files but lots of other did and they got some really useful stuff about MTW from those files. but if its being calculated already its just a point of rcording and displaying the calculations. it shouldnt be a relly big deal to include. did Romw not have this feature?
i think M2TW uses the same system though. when combining units sometimes combining 2 depleted units increases their valour. so the system must be choosing the units with the highest valour first.
Re: Individual soldier stats
No, it still averages it out.
If you have two units of spears, one on 120/150 and the other on 31/150
Merge them together, and you get a unit of the least experienced 30 and the 120, and a second unit of 1, with the highest xp from the entire unit.
Re: Individual soldier stats
green i'm not talking about the experience displayed i'm talking about actual combat calculations which are 2 different things
even in MTW exp was shown as an avarage but calculated individually
Re: Individual soldier stats
Yeah that would be a great feature, but even if it is implemented, the animations count for too much atm.
Re: Individual soldier stats
Thanks guys for the answers. CRPCarrot, that's right I remember having the option to switch it on in the main options screen, but there's nothing like that in M2tw options. I'd actually completely forgotten about the feature. It wasn't till I was trying to get a Heroic Victory/ Man of the Hour win. that I started wondering about the stat tracking. It would make sense if it did do that.
Re: Individual soldier stats
MTW had the feature where you could turn on logs and see combat results. RTW did not have this feature but did track individual men in units (information retained in the save game file). I'l assuming M2TW is like RTW but haven't checked to see (and honestly not planning on checking.)
