Hello, I was wondering if anyone has made a fix for the stats of elephants, or is it intended that they have such a low defence and only 1 hit point? Have looked through the forum and can't find anything, so would be grateful if anyone informs me if they know anything.

Pretty sure that 1HP means the riders health and not the elephants. I've faught against them and they sure have more that just 1 hit point.
Yeah. the 1 HP thing floating around the forums is from someone mis-reading the EDU. The riders have 1 HP, the beasts themselves have 5 IIRC.
Forest elephants have 4 hp and all other elephants, Bush and Indian, have 5.
Same for defence.
I took a look to the unit-file before I spent the additonal money for armoured elephants. In the game the stats are shown as the same because it gives the stats of the crew.
You can trust the EB team I think.:2thumbsup:
What if the rider would have 2 hp?? That would mean that the elephant may fall, and the rider would thus lose 1 HP, and then continue fighting on the ground as infantry with his 2nd HP?
Could this be used with the cavalry??
Just a crazy idea, but talk is cheap... and wouldn`t it be pretty to have your companions that lost their horses keep fighting on the ground for their lives as infantry??? :grin:

There is usually more then one rider on the beast. But in the case of only having one rider left on the beast and he die's so does the beast. You'll often notice during a battle with towered elephants that you'll take casualties of 1 or 2, those are the rider's dieing.Quote:

Needless to say, the bloddy bastards didn`t rout, and I didn`t noticed a single crewman killed.

I've had single man losses to towered elephants in battle. They are rare and it takes quite a bit of looking to see them. I've only had it happen in vanilla, but that is also only when elephants have stayed alive long enough to have them occur. Playing on VH against some form of archer watch your unit closely, you'll get those 1 man losses eventually.
I had an Epirus campaign where i was besieging a town. I routed everything bar the one unit of spearmen that were waiting at the town center AND two little akontistai(sp?) that managed to make it back. As soon as they got their morale restored they threw their remaining javelins at my lumbering giants and killed 2 out of the last three. I couldn't believe my eyes-- needless to say i was very impressed-- i almost felt bad as i ran those two guys down with my General's cavalry :devilish:.
