disk "startup menu" problem mtw2

I have mtw2 installed and have played a number of short campaigns. I usually start the game by clicking a desktop icon when the disk is already in the computer. When it is not however, I put it in, and the auto menu appears and the "play the game" selection is grayed out. What is with that? Not a major problem, but it is puzzling. Any one else have this?

I presume you installed patch 1.1 and then got the problem, just as i did.

Which means you were using a fixed exe (to keep your disk unscratched like me) which means you need 1.1 fixed exe.

Just so you know, talking about fixed exe's isnt allowed
