Stalled sieges

Hi

Hope this hasn't been covered before - if it has I apologise

Two examples:

1)Turks besieged by the Mongols in, I think, Trebizond. I destroy their siege equipment and wipe out their rather meagre infantry forces. The massed HA's and other cavalry units then just wait outside ( the gate is still closed and they haven't breached any walls). In my opinion I've won ie. sucessfully prevented them from siezing the castle but my only option is to press esc and lose.:thumbsdown:

2) England commanded by Faction Leader ( forget which ) besieged in Antwerp by Danish and HRE ally. The Danes attack ( various siege weapons etc. ) I defeat them. They rout. But the HRE force ( which doesn't have any siege equipment ) simply sits outside the walls. Same dilemma: I've won but can't close without losing. In this case I lose patience, sally and am massacred with loss of Faction Leader.:thumbsdown:

I feel for you. This is a known bug (the so-called "passive A.I. bug") and has been mostly fixed in version 1.1. Have you upgraded your game yet?

It does still happen at times, but it's not quite as frequent as it used to be on 1.0.

Unlimited battle timer switched on? If so, why?

Obviously its a bug, but its not a game breaker unless you have unlimited battles, and i havent really seen any real justification to turn that on in M2.

Alternatively, sometimes sallying forth a bit and then running back inside will kickstart the AI into doing something.

I have the patch installed but as you say, it may still occur from time to time.

I hadn't thought about the unlimited battle timer. I will now.

Happened to me many times, especially with the Mongols and Timurids.

Like Daveybaby said though, turn on your battle timer. Next time it happens, set the gamespeed to 3x and grab some snacks or something while the time runs out. When you come back your battle will be won :p
