If I turn of the green triangles under units in the battle map... then how do I identify which unit I have selected? It seems to be a popular thing, to disable the arrows, but they seem necessary.

Don't worry. There are other identifications. The large banner that signifies each unit will grow and start flashing. If you have those turned off, the elected unit also glows somewhat.
Where do you turn those off? I don't see it on the game options and I've always hated them.
Go to C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\preferences and then click on the notepad document titled "preferences". Press CTRL and F at the same time and then type in the box arrow. Type arrow. You should see it come to the line "DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:FALSE". Highlight FALSE and press Delete on your keyboard, or backspace. Now type in TRUE. Green arrows are now disabled.Quote:

Thank you kind sir...
You'da thought CA woulda made it a bit easier to turn off. Bah.
Is there a short cut you can use to put battle speed up to x3? I hate using the mouse to do it, just one of those little irritations. Also, when you press space on the campaign map to speed it up, how do slow it back down? I aint figured that out yet :sweatdrop:
I believe Control + T turns x3 speed on and off. Additionally, I set up the 3 keys to the right of the L key as Normal, Double and Triple Speed. Makes it so easy to change speeds.
Regarding the campaign map thing, pressing space again should slow the movement down again. If not, save your game, then just reload again and everything is back to annoying slow movement. It's pretty poor they didn't have a mode that lets you move units fast, but automatically halt when they see a new unit in view. That's the only reason I can see why you'd want to be in slow mode so you don't miss anything.
I kept on pressing Ctrl-T when I first started playing (cause that's what you pressed in STW and MTW) but it didn't work. Must be my dodgy keyboard :wall:
