Help Please
I have searched around and can not find the error I am receiving when installing the game.
I recently repurchased the original medieval total war (planning on some single player and LAN action) but when I go to install it on my computer I receive the error message:
An earlier version of Medieval - Total War has been detected. Please uninstall this before installing Medieval - Total War - Gold Edition.
I have searched and searched, hidden files, the lot and can find nothing linked to the game I had installed on here over a year ago.
Anyone else come accross this and if so how did you fix?
Thanks

Re: Help Please
You need to install from the setup folder on the CDROm and not from the autrun menu. There should a file called setup.exe in one of the folders, running that will allow you to install.

Re: Help Please
Its in the Registry-the old MTW. But Gold is not "original"-is that the one you re trying to install? If so theres always this problem with previous versions.
Go to Run
Type in: regedit
Find :HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in the left window.
Click the small + sign and it ll expand downwards
Now find : SOFTWARE
Click the little + sign next to it
It will expand down
Scroll down-the list is in alphabetical order.
Find a folder called :Total War
Right click it
Choose delete.
That should get rid of the old versions traces.
