1. Depends on what you mean by 'scope', if I'm correct, which I may not be, RTR will probably cover a wider area, but EB will continue to have more detail and immersion.Quote:

They have been closed because obviously a lot of people here and on our other forum at TWC like EB (a lot) and it's hard to keep things civil sometimes - though I'll give credit to many people here that they have certainly tried. Give it a rest for a bit, and after a couple of weeks if they pop back up they won't be closed up quickly, but right now we've just had too much of that going on in our forum, and to let it continue just alienates people - it doesn't really do much good honestly.
I also really don't understand what you mean by "scope". I'll let this stay open till your question is answered (if it is possible to answer it - it may not be), but can you clarify what you mean?
more historical on events that happened e.g storms plauges don't think it to good to go though but the general scope on history
That's really quite vague. Plus, nobody here really has any idea. Well, we do have a couple of members who are RTR members too (only one who is active), but they wouldn't dare say anything about what is in development for 7.0, either on our internal forum or out here.
In the end, you'll just have to try it when it comes out if you want to know. Keep closely tuned to their public announcements section on their forum, and you'll know more than we do really.
I will say that I don't think any mod (not just talking about RTR or any historical mod even - I'm talking about *any* RTW mod) will ever add more stuff than EB already has. More stuff doesn't always equal better of course, but I would be very shocked if any mod for RTW would add more units, descriptions, names, 2D supplemental work (like gui's, building graphics, load screens, victory condition maps, different icons for different cultures, altered message graphics for different culture groups, etc.). I just don't think it is physically possible for any mod team to outdo us there.
Hmmmmmmm, sounds like a challenge is being sent out to all the modders of the land. Just remember, "pride goeth before the fall."

If you mean scripted, yes, it will have more events scripted in, but those will not be dependent on the alternate history actually leading to the event:
eg, Rome enters Dacia and legions pop up, even though Rome does not need to reform to a legion system which evolved only when they suffered major defeats.
Not exactly pride. The hardcoded limits are rather difficult to beat for any mod team. For example on units we are close 500 unit/250 models limit, and it will be hard to have more if we in fact reach it:beam:Quote:

Even storms and stuff arent guaranteed to happen as/when they did historically. Weather is so complex that over a 200 year period its totally not predictable (so any historic storms are likely not to happen as they did in the alternate EB history you create). Plagues are even more unpredictable, as they depend largely on people. Even things like volcanoes and earthquakes might not have happened exactly the same in a parallel timeline, though obviously they are less random than the weather, as those sorts of mechanical stresses build up over very long periods of time.Quote:

I think that by scope he means that the RTR beguins in 280 b.c. and I think the new map is a bit bigger (not sure), but really like TA said EB is too deep. No other mod can challenge that and the guys in EB know their stuff inside out. :yes:
Just to ask something about Historical mods.
Is there a historical mod that is thinking of having lorica segmentata and squamata legionaires and troop types of the Trajan campaing?
Is because I have always liked that period, but have never seen a mod about that timeframe.

Well squamata co-esisted with mail throughout the period. We toyed with having squamata legionaries but dropped it in favour of First Cohorts. It also causes a-historical re-training problems.
As to LS, well I haven't heard of one set in the post-Augustan era.

Quite literally, this is never going to happen in EB. We set the starting conditions, but we have no say about what happens after that (except with certain events whose causes are off map). Take Julius Caesar, how exactly would he be born if his father, or his grandfather, or his great grandfather were killed in battle at the age of 16.Quote:

I know that and I dont want lorica segmentata in the EB timeframe since it was very rare.
Just want to know what historical mod have that type of armor. :embarassed:

A "Lorica Squamata" was a shirt of metal scales that the Romans used during the "Late Antiquity Period" i.e Late Empire(Well, for the West)era troops. See the Getai(sp?) General and lesser general in the previews for a pic of the Squamata.:book:Quote:

Isn't scale mail the oldest form of metal armor out there right? Unless squatmata
had a different style.
Anyway the only thing I find RTR has going for it is a few better looking units , unlike EB though most of the units use vanilla descriptions.
Also one more question for the people really into RTR has the 1.7 patch came out for RTR Platinum or is it still 1.7 beta?
