What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Just curious. Not talking about 10 turn aborted campaigns though - real campaigns over a number of years (even if you lost after three or four, that's fine), but not the ones you started and only got a few years into and then quit.
And I'm only talking about in the 0.8 build too. Not talking about 0.72 or 0.74 campaigns.
You can vote on multiple factions, but you can't vote again after you cast your vote now.

Had very fun with Casse til some bug stopped my campaign, but Romani where fun too.

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Had a great campaign as Macedonia, conquered Greece, Southern Italy, half of Asia Minor. (And some of the most interesting AI behaviours... Rome got kicked out of, uh... Rome, and expanded into Spain!)
But the I quit it when my grand battle-fleet (5 biremes :laugh4:), containing my only character with any command points and one full stack of elite troops, got destroyed by one egyptian trireme. :wall: As well as because Asia Minor is becoming No-Man's land with neither me or Egypt have enough troops (or courage) to attack each other.
Great fun though.

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Two full campaigns with Makedonia and Baktria (both ~195 BCE, only 5 CTDs overall!).
-
Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
I played a Epirote, Hayasdan, Adui and tryed Casse but got whiped out after some turns (spawned rebels were to strong).
Curently playing Lusotannia

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
ive voted cartage, cause it's the first faction i had a long campaign on the new 0.8 build
but:
0.72:
Pahlava (extensive long playing)
Sauromate (just tryied)
YueZhe (just tried)
Roma (just tryied)
Casse (just tryied)
Germans (just tryied)
0.74
pahlava (extensive long playing)
Koinon Hellenon (extensive long playing)
Aedui (extensive long playing)
0.80
Pahlava (small campaign, waiting for 0.81 to try them more extensive)
Koinon hellenon (extensive long playing)
Cartage (extensive long playing and finished)
Lusitanians (extensive long playing)
Roma (extensive long playing)
Ponto (just tryied)
Aedui/Arverni (just tryied)
Germans (just tryied)
"Extensive long playing" means what it means: Ive playied it a lot.
"just tryied" means not ive just tryied a custom battle, but ive playied at last 10/15 years.
Salut!

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
0.72 Aedui + some Hayasdan tryouts
0.74 Glorious Hayk, forced to give up by CTD.
0.8 A small Dacian campaign (took Greece, found out they weren't complete, got bored)
And Qart-Hadastim (going for the long campaign)
-
Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Casse, Sweboz, Hayasdan, Pontos, and currently (even though I didn't tick it) Epeiros.
-
Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Being a first time EB player my first taste of Eb was .80 and with Epeiros. Hard at first, but once I got my mines up and running I actually stood a chance against Rome and Carthage (I prefer to use their Vanilla names).
After I did my Epeiros one I started another as my favourite faction Arche Seleukeia. Absolutely amazing campaign dealing with the Ptolemaio and powerhouse Baktrians. :2thumbsup:

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Getai, Lusotannan, KH and Baktria.
Baktria and the KH in particular are great twists on the standard Hellenic model for most mods, which is usually to be somewhat overpowered. Baktria's campaign tends to even out in difficulty if one maintains alliances with the nomads and concentrates military on AS while also capturing those Indian provinces. For the KH however, i'm on year 254 and the intensity has rarely let up, primarily I think because I didn't go for ceasefire/alliances with Makedonia or the Epirotes respectively. Also, some sort of AI hiccup or blithe action by me led to both AS and the Ptolemies declaring war and going Operation Overlord on Krete and Rhodes (got to love that BI .exe).
The Getai campaign was pretty good as well, if short. Things get a bit easy for them when you capture those eastern Eleutheroi provinces and start recruiting half stacks of Sauromatae horse archers from your type IVs.

See that 1 next to havent played EB yet? hehe.

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Getai, Lusotannan, Baktria, Saka, Seleucid, Pontus, Aedui, Qarthadastim and Makedonian campains of at least 20 years. Along with a bunch of smaller ones, *an Epeiros one, one early getai one that ctded, a like 10 second ptolemaic one, a few other lusotannan ones, 10 second averni one before changing to aedui*
-
Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Mostly Seleuceia, but I've also played campaigns as Makedon, KH, Epeiros, Qart-Hadastim, Ptolemy, oh yeah and Roma. I'd play a decent amount of time before giving up to try a new Seleuceia campaign.

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
In .74 got far with a Sweboz and Makedon campaign; in .8 I'm busy with a proper Epeiros campaign. At 256 bc now, taking it slowly and steadily, but I only have access to a PC once every two/three weeks so the going is slow.

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Only 3, I think.
Koinon Hellenon (briefly, lost the save files)
Casse (till around 222 BC if I recall correctly)
Pahlava (briefly, will pick it up again some time)
As soon as I have the time, I'll continue my Casse campaign as I'm very close to meeting the victory objective, and the first celtic reform is closeby :2thumbsup:

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Only Saka Rauka, and I'm proud to say that it is the only campaign I have ever lost. I made one stupid error and lost my entire army... I was left with 3 family members so I just let my capital revolt.

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
So far, one each of Casse and KH, both of which I lost. One Averni campaign, going strong, and a Macedonia campaign, also going well.
-
Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
casse 210 BC-ish
Romani 150 BC-ish
Macedon 180 BC-ish
Currently: Hayasdan 210 BC-ish
-
Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Romani, the Koinon and Baktria.
Definitely interested in campaigns as the Saka and Saba, but I will wait until .81 is around for those.

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Casse - Rebels, Rebels, Rebels :sweatdrop:
Aedui - No money, Keep playing, No money, just a few more cities, No money :wall:
Arverni - See Aedui :wall:
Makedonia - Go in debt, destroy KH and Epeiros, build mines, money, money, money :2thumbsup:
Koinon Hellenon - See Makedonia :2thumbsup:
Arche Seleukeia - Keep Rebels and Ptolemaioi busy, build mines, money, money, money :2thumbsup:
Lots of fun, being a Celt not so much fun after 220BC
The Mod? :2thumbsup:

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
First played as Lusotannan, conquered almost all of spain and got bored after having too much money from my mines.
Then tried Sauromataens, got pwnd in couple of years. Tried Arverni, same deal only faster.
Now I'm playing again as Sauromataens and having a blast.

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
What surprises me most is the few people selecting Ptolemaioi.

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
My preference is always to play a more isolated nation - Casse suits me wonderfully, and when Sabyn is more complete it will too. Ditto the Getai. Big empires like the Ptolemaic and Seleukid Empires and such are not my style 'cos they're huge and frankly I get bored when my empire reaches such heights. I'm not fond of playing next door to those same empires because 18 stack armies versus my half-stack army generally makes me a sad panda.
One thing I would like - any of the polities able to book it to Ankyra really fast? I might enjoy playing with just Ankyra.

Yeah, the sprawl of AS and the Ptolemies is tough to grasp. I'd much rather buildup an insignificant tribe like the Getai into a proper nation or otherwise be the underdog up against the two Successors.
I'll admit AS looks interesting though. It will probably be one of my first .81 campaigns if it really does feel like trying to desperately hold together a rapidly fragmenting empire existing on borrowed time, which is how it's looked observing the AI during my last Baktria campaign.

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Hayasdan, Baktria, Sweboz and Makedon... Hayasdan hardest by far being the only faction fighting Arche Seleukeia year out an year in...
Might considering to play as the Ptolemaioi on my next campaign.

Re: What factions have you played 0.8 campaigns as?
Yeah, it is interesting. On the one hand you want to do cooler things for factions people aren't playing as much as, but on the other, you want to do cooler things for factions people *are* playing more too. Hmmm. I'm wondering what we could do to make things even more interesting for those most-played factions... :laugh4:
