Need information on the latest version of the game

Hi all. It's been a while since I've played MTW2. I gave up orignally becuase of the wierdness of some of the game mechanics. I bought MTW2 via steam, so I'm unable to find any "patch" notes, since it updates the game automatically.

Can somebody tell me if the following issues have been addressed in this latest version of the game? I'd rather not waste a few hours playing only to find they're still around.

1. Psycho Inquisitors - Have inquisitors been toned down/medicated? They were far too agressive in the original release for my liking.
2. Ability to dismount before battle - Can I now dismount my cavalry units for sieges?
3. Billmen - has their inability to fight cavalry been addressed?

Issue #1 is really the game killer for me. I played twice and got in about 30 turns when the inquisition showed up and started killing off my royal family. I really don't feel like playing the game until that issue gets fixed.

The other two issues are important, but more of a "Nice to have."

If the devs haven't fixed these issues, is there a player made mod out there that might?

To answer you:

1. Patch 1.1 tones them down somewhat, but they are still a bit uber, to avoid them you HAVE to keep very good papal relations, that or play as a non-Catholic faction, otherwise he WILL send inquisitors after you.

2. no, and theirs no code for this as far as i know so your probably not going to see this put in prior to an expansion. It was simply never intended to be possible and as a result theirs no way to add it~:(.

3. Not yet but their are plenty of mods that fix the issue and a CA fix is due i the next patch, the problem is fixing it screws balance over quite badly TBH, so they have a lot of testing to do at their end.

Another well known mod that will that you could use instead is Lusted LTC. You can find that here.

Both Lusted and My mods fix a bug that results in characters having less starting piety than they should, thus they are now more Inquisitor resistant than they where. they both also fix the billmen issue and an issue with Shields.

You WILL need Patch 1.1 for both of these mods however as the trait changes do not work correctly otherwise.

Thanks for the response. I will check out your mods when I get home. I'm somewhat disappointed to learn of the inquisitors. Perhaps someone should just mod them out of the game completely. They are just irritating.

Another option if your really ticked off at the inquisitors is to modify your Descr_strat file so that Papal_states is in the playable factions list, now you get to control the Inquisitors :laugh4:.
