EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Hi EB-Fans,
currently the EB team is focussing on getting 0.81 ready and bug free. We know you're all looking forward to it. But of course we can't just let you wait like that. Caratacos has given you some nice eye-candy recently and EB itself is also packed with eye-candy, if you ask me. So why not organize a screenshot of the month contest? Now you guys can show us some pretty screens. Of course we wouldn't leave a winner empty handed. You'll receive a sig banner.
Now the rules:
- Every fan can participate but can only submit one screenshot every month.
- Full screens, only the UI is allowed to be cropped out.
-You are allowed to edit them with photoshop, it is however not a requirement.
- All images must come from EB.
-All screenshots must be send in before the last week of the month in this thread.
Now how will we choose the winner? Well the EB-team will elect the 10 best (if the amount of submissions require it). A poll will be opened the last week of the month in which the fans, can cast their vote. The winner will be the one who got the most votes. The poll will close the last day of the month. The next day submissions for the next month can be made in a new thread.
Good luck and best wishes,
-The EB Team.
note: all screens must be in before the 22nd!

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Can we have campaign map pictures? (crosses my fingers...)
-
Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Well, I guess as long as it is EB, you can.

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Pardon me dedicated photographers, but how i do i take pictures for the contest. Like, what button(s) do i press to snap a photo?:help:
-
Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Press the 'Print Screen' button. Then exit EB and paste into paint or some other picture app.
Edit: or Alt+Tab to minimise EB and be able to get it back up quickly to take more shots.
Caratacos: I didnt know that. I assumed it would only save the last one, as its a windows operation rather than a RTW one. Unless RTW takes control of 'print screen' while its running... Which makes sense, I guess.

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Actually you should be able to press the 'print screen' button multiple times-- it stores the pics in the 'tga' folder in your RTW directory. that's how it works for me.
Also if you guys want to give your pictures titles (not on the pictures) but in your post, that would help for later reference. Good luck :2thumbsup:.

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
hmm, as a member, can I enter? I rather like my valentine's pic, but I bet I could do better...
-
Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Well, it will be a public vote that decides it. I don't really see a problem with that.

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Thanks for that, i got six gold ones, but i can't find photoshop? Does it have to be installed. Also, how do i post my pic? I'm new to this, you can, see it's my first picture post:embarassed:

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
paint is in start>programs>accessories>paint
you dont need photoshop. Any application which allows you to paste pictures in will do. Even Word! (I just tested it)
Imageshack.com is a good place to upload pics. Its free, and you dont need to register.
Edit: make sure the pics are saved as JPGs

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
imageshack is the way most images are hosted here I believe - you can just upload it by going to imageshack.com and they will give you a link to post here (thumbnails would be nice - that link to their large versions). Certainly photoshopping images isn't necessary, but artistic ones that have been filtered or such won't be excluded.

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Sry, at this point i'm probably just a pain, but nothings working:wall: It either says it's an unsupported format, or says there are no pictures in the file, even upon changing the file format! if it doesn't work, like, in the next hour i'm posting them as is. Although i haven't even been able to see them yet due to the Mega Retardos that is my computer...K, i'm done ranting. Help me if you wish.

Those pictures come out as black if you have antialiasing on.

I'm not sure what program you are trying to open the file (what filetype?) with.
'Paint' can not open .tga files. You'll have to use a program that is tga compatable, open them and save as .jpg's.
Or you can use kugutsu's method (pressing 'print screen' and 'alt'+'tab'-ing to windows opening 'paint' and then pasting 'ctrl'+'v' and saving as a jpg)
Note: Imageshack can't upload .tga files.
Hope this helps.

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Fraps is a pretty solid program and the 'demo' version allows you to use screen captures. There are some programs that allow you to view .tga files; one of which is GIMP.
With 0.80, I haven't had any luck with using print screen to capture screens and just get a black screen.

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
But has anyone shown how to convert .tga into .jpg?
-
Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Gimp is your friend! "Load", edit and "save as" and choose .jpg file.

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
Then wheres GIMP? is it safe?

I have no problems with it. Then again, I have no net connection at home. I haven't heard anything bad about it though.

Dowload the 2 first and you are good to go. GTK is all the libraries required, and the other is the GIMP, a freeware alternative of Photoshop.

Re: EB's new monthly screenshot competition.
THX "Kerav" Keravnos! I'll try it!
Though info on tga converting to jpg would solve all our problems.:sweatdrop:

(not a submission really - I just wanted to get rid of this screenshot that has been sitting on my desktop the last few days, and I thought about making an AAR out of it, but decided not to.)
