Summer seems a distant memory
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...ice_house1.jpg
Here's a picture of my sister's house, taken on Feb. 12th. They've been blessed with 12ft. of the stuff since Feb. 3rd. We've only gotten a paltry 8ft. at my place, my back's about had it with the constant daily shoveling. This keeps up, we're due another 1-2 feet tonight, I'm seriously going to consider hibernation (my supply of Royal Crown and Bombay Sapphire are nearly gone~:mecry: ). Wake me when it's spring.:help:
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
Yeah, same... You'd wake us up, wouldn't you AdrianII?
I thought the snow was so nice, and the cold weather too, now I'm just getting depressed and tired again.:ballchain:
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
I wish we got snow ~:mecry:
Though maybe not that much.
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
Don't worry, Dennis Quaid is filming a new movie about rescuing people the day after the day after tomorrow. However you have to donate to Greenpeace before he digs you out.
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
Thanks for the winter update Hosa. I was wondering how much of that lake effects snow you were catching even though you aren't in the zone that was making the news. That is one amazing picture. So, where do you put the snow you shovel when there is so much where you're not clearing?
Now I feel bad about the 5-6 inches I had to shovel this morning and have been whining about all day. :shame:
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
Time for you to move to Texas.
We have only two seasons.
Hot and Hotter.

Spoken like a true Texan.

Re: Summer seems a distant memory
Could you send us over some of your snow, Hosa?
Winter has been a major disappointment over here so far - only one week with temperatures below 0°C for a couple of days (oh yes - and one day we even had some sorry excuse for snow) ~:(
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
Is shovelling the worst bit, or is it when it suddenly gets warm and 12ft of snow melts overnight?

Well said Ser.
I really miss the snow during winter, when I was a kid(I'm just 21 now) we would often get about one foot but it got less and less since then and it doesn't even last nearly as long. Now I fear I might never see snow in our region ever again.

didn´t it snow in texas this winter?
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
It's been the hottest winter I ever remember. Temperature between 4-8 degrees and now snow at all. Bah!
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
when all that snow melts does it leak into your basement hosa?
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
That's quite an impressive pile of snow you've got there!
While the amount you guys got up north would completely shut down DC (not necessarily a bad thing  ), it would be better than the mess I had to deal with yesterday. About 2-3 inches fell, most of it sleet, and now we have a solid crust on top that supports my weight with no problem. So it's basically a skating rink. I had to use a pickaxe to break up the ice chunks blocking my driveway. At least you can actually play in it. And my dogs would loooooove it.
The temp isn't supposed to get above freezing until the middle of next week, so this stuff is not going anywhere for a while. It's just going to get harder and icier. :gah2:
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
It snowed here again a few days ago. 1 inch, gone by lunchtime.
I was very disappointed.

Naw that was just a little sleet. Now there were some snowflakes but they wimped out and melted as soon as they hit the ground
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
This global warming thing is freezing my balls off!!!!:beam:
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
I'd love to send some snow your way, Ser. Some for Sjakihata too.
Actually Red, after I retire Texas is on my list of places to move to. Maybe the Houston area.
If we have a quick and prolonged warm spell, this much snow will end up in a lot of basements, mine included. However, it hasn't gotton above 20F for two weeks, mostly single digits and with windchills near -20 on many of them, the damn winds have been howling at 20 to 40 mph with few calm spells. The weather pattern doesn't look to change much. The beginning of winter the cold Canadian air had stayed far north of where I live, it was up to 50F on some days in January, with lots of rain. Now that cold air has dropped southward and all that rain has turned to snow. Thankfully, Lake Erie has frozen over so the lake-effect snow has stopped. Lake Ontario never freezes over so those to the south south-east are going to get hammered.
Greg, we push the piles back as far as possible, the lawn's going to be a mess. Some municipalities have to truck the stuff to the boonies out of town.
Re: Summer seems a distant memory
My part of the country was hitting record lows a few weeks ago, but that has passed and highs are in the 50's and 60's now. That picture makes me glad it never snows where I live.

The outskirts of Houston are actually quite nice.
