Re: Dismountable chariots.
Vercingetrix and I were looking at this about 12 months ago, but both he and I innitially got caught up with RL and now no longer actively contribute to EB.
Re: Dismountable chariots.
There is also the problem of siege engines being available ONLY during sieges. I don't think it would be possible to have them in normal battles.
Nice idea though.

I think Viking is referring to equipment like balistae and onagers.
Personally, if there is any way to accomplish it, it would be by this route. Unfortunately, the amount of work to do the coding and animations would be mind boggling.
Re: Dismountable chariots.
Whoa, Psycho you're no longer part of EB? What a trip, you were always a visible member here on the boards and a cool guy to boot. But of course it's understandable, good luck with whatever you've got going on.

That would require making the general an artillery unit, wich have a hardcoded movement penalty I believe.

Actually, Verci apparently found a way around this.

Ah shucks …most gracious mate, you must be the only one on the planet to think so. ~;)
Yes, EB and I have parted ways for reasons I do not wish to disclose here. Suffice to say, the team will continue to improve / enhance this great mod (EB).
As for myself, I’ll soon be covered to the elbows in baby poop. :ahh:

Why would that necessitate the general be an artillery unit?
Just because some chariot units would be made dismountable doesn't mean all would be.

Wow. That sounds like it's certainly possible to make mountable chariots then. Though if they do function like siege towers/ladders/rams there would be nothing to stop other units from stealing them once the general dismounted. Not that that would be a bad thing. Just odd.
Either way it sounds as if it would take a hell of a lot of work to accomplish.

Some of the ideas you guys have are crazy .....
