This attorney has advocated looser filter policies in libraries
I have heard nothing about him before now.
Why not?
It seems that such a man in this position, busted for having child pornography at his house has not been mentioned in place of 'hiccup girl of Florida' and Anna Nicole Smith.
Re: Bad News Covering (Alert, some dubious material)
Whatever his personal perversion I believe you statement is incorrect.
Re: Bad News Covering (Alert, some dubious material)
According to the articles you posted, he has not advocated child pornography use in libraries. He has advocated unrestricted internet access in libraries; and in other news, is guilty of personally downloading child pornography.
He sounds like a scumbag, but there was no reason for you to have heard about him before, since he hadn't yet committed any crimes. I'm generally against the use of internet filters, thinking personal responsibility and education a better and freer defense. In specific instances of use by children (say school libraries) I'm not decided on what's best, but for the most part I'd agree with his ACLU stand, though not with his personal decisions.

Me too. At our school they block everything. I couldn't do a history assignment on Martin Luther King because a lot of the sites were blocked because they contained "Hate and Discrimination".
WELL OF COURSE THEY DID, THATS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT! :wall:
People aren't stupid enough to look up dubious sites at school anyway since there are teachers there anyway.
As for that executive, he deserves to go to prison for a looong time.

Amateurs.
Here's what you do: one of you keeps the teacher occupied, simulate a heart attack or something. Teachers panic when their students look like they're dying. What to tell the parents and all that.
Meanwhile, you use your teachers computer for some nice googling around. Ukrainian girls, Thai teen boys, koalas, whatever tickles your fancy. Be sure to save plenty to his hard disk.

A thread on dubious news reporting and no mention of Fox? Bad show.

Okay, you say CNN and I'll say Fox.
