Seattle is such a wonderful liberal place…. :dizzy2:
Re: How did we miss this!
What's all the hoo-ha about? Can't this people speak england, like what I do? :dizzy2:
A bitch is just the name for a female dog. What next? You can't call a female pig a sow or a female horse a mare?
Now if it was a pimp in a pink caddy........:sweatdrop: :laugh4:

You explain to your pampered, over protected 5 year old that bitch is the proper english word for a female dog.....there....I solved the problem.
this is such a non-issue...

Exactly. Seriously, don't they teach this in schools anymore?

They're too busy removing dodge-ball and tag from the P.E. curriculum to bother with something as peripheral to education as vocabulary.

"I am probably the most progressive liberal person in the world and I am personally offended by the sign," said Janet Stillman, executive director of the Wallingford Neighborhood Office.
Hmm. Let me do the math on this one...
*sound of gears grinding in Goofball's head*
She claims to be most progressive liberal person in the world.
She is offended by sign.
I am not offended by sign.
She is less progressive liberal than I am.
She is not the most progressive liberal person in the world.
Conclusion:
She is an idiot.
:logic:

Uh, not PG material I guess, so spoiled in the hope of avoiding it becoming BG material:
Re: How did we miss this!
Maybe the lady was offended because she claims the title for her self?
no, maybe that is her husbands pet name for her?
yeah! that must be it!
Re: How did we miss this!
Tsk. :beadyeyes2:
But relevant to the discussion so I'll forbear. That's not an invitation for all and sundry to see how far they can push things.

I think that she thinks the world revolves around her and that the sign must be refering to her.
I personally think the sign is great. Have of marketing is getting people to remember your name so when conflict is created over a funny pun it only helps the store. Heck, I know I'd be curious enough after seeing that sign to wander in and see what products are around for "High Maintanence Bitches"
Re: How did we miss this!
Similar to Louis's post from above, although this one is for real:
(Yeah, not really getting the "spoil" tags working, either, among other things.
Mods, feel free to fix them if you'd like. Thank you.)
Nobody makes a big deal out of this one. Is that one sooo much worse than this one ?
edit: ok, the spoil tags did work... but strangely enough, they do NOT work in "preview post", while other tags do, thank you very much. Oh well.

Well, that's a traditional suet based pudding widely inflicted on British schoolchildren. It's name has clearly corrupted many millions by inducing giggling. This uncontrolled mirth in the young was directly responsible for the moral weakening and consequent fall of the British Empire.
Mind you, I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone had tried to ban it for something other than health reasons.

Except unlike NYC and San Fran, you can pack (almost) as much heat as you want, idiot major (The Economist said so!) and idiot former attorney general (again, The Economist said so) notwithstanding.
Almost makes up for the socialist nanny-staters, the tax lovers, the dead, criminal, and foreign people voting, not to mention some people voting twice, and liberal groups submitting blatantly false voter registrations, etc.
You know, heck, just ask an uptight Seattleite (really, check those articles out, they're funny, and the drawing of the pony-tailed man is spot on):
Quote:
Dear Uptight Seattleite,
Am I wrong, or are all those "no-build" supporters of a surface-only viaduct replacement just hipster renters living on Capitol Hill without cars, the means to buy them, or the need to park them? And just how do they think their precious touring indie bands get to Neumo's? And how does that PBR get delivered to Linda's? And how does the organic produce get trucked to Madison Market? That's right—they all come via motor vehicles, often across the viaduct. Isn't this no-build cult more than a little hypocritical? And won't its members all inevitably marry, buy cars, then bitch about traffic when they can't drive downtown from their townhouses in Shoreline?
Willing to Pay for a Tunnel
Dear Shins-Hating, Burger-Eating, Car-Centric Yuppie Scum,
How homophobic of you to assume that everyone on the Hill is straight. Many in our proudly diverse community lack the right to legally recognized marriage. And many of us rent because we willingly choose lower-paying, anti-careerist day jobs so that we have the freedom and time to pursue the arts, music, social activism, transportation planning, or having themed dinner parties for Battlestar Galactica, Lost, and Heroes. The character of this dynamic neighborhood should be preserved from greedy developers who want to build ugly high-rise condos and eradicate locally owned bars, clubs, and restaurants. At the same time, a surface-level viaduct solution can channel growth and density downtown, where money-grubbing, marriage-ist, hetero elitists properly belong. There is no contradiction. Urban density and traffic congestion can both be solved with a single word: monorail.
Ironically, that letter has to do with the issue The Economist scorned the mayor and former attorney general for.

Actually, Washington State has progressed beyond that, and now we're progressing to the point of dumbing down exams and lowering standards while progressively giving the whiny teachers more money. Don't you love how progressive we are?

Ye of dirty mind could have unchristian associations with the above examples. Therefore I would be in favour of some restraint in the public sphere.
