File association - Question?

If this is a stupid question just tell me! I'm new to modding and will need some advice from time to time. So.....

I have un-packed the data files for MTW2 and have noticed that all my Texture files are associated with Windows Note Pad. Is this correct?
If not is it important? If it is how the hell do I un-associate them?

It's not a problem it's just that texture files are binary
so they aren't readable. When you get to wanting to
mod them you'll need alpaca's texture/dds converter
and I think after you get the nvidia DDS plugin for Photoshop
the .dds files are automatically associated with Photoshop.
