No Roman MIC's!!!!!??????
Hi all
I haven't seen anyone else post about this so I think it might be only a problem on my game, but I thought I would check just to make sure.
So I'm doing a Roman campaign and it's going really well, I've pwned Carthage and I'm just moving into the Northern Italy states and Gallic cities. The problem is that every city I've taken, without exception, will not let me build my factional MIC buildings. It doesn't matter if I build a level 1 gov or something lower, the Factional building doesn't apear on the construction menu. I even destroy the old barracks that the previous faction was using but I can't build them at all:wall: :furious3: .
So is this a known problem? or is it just my problem? and if so is there anything I could do to fix it?
Thanks all
Re: No Roman MIC's!!!!!??????
Roman units can only be recruited in regions with Roman citizens. Since the faction MIC only has Roman units, they are not available where there are not citizens. After the Polybian Reform you will get them in most of Italia. After the Marian Reforms it will spread to most of the world, where you can build faction MIC.
Re: No Roman MIC's!!!!!??????
Thank you sooooooo much for clearing up my confusion. I was really afraid of having to scrap my whole campaign.
Another question I have though is that I've taken the Balearic islands and built regional MIC's but still can't build the slingers. Is that tied to reforms also?

Sometimes you need a higher than tier 1 MIC to see regional units. I don't know off the top of my head whether this applies to the slingers, but it is probably the case.
Re: No Roman MIC's!!!!!??????
The romans can't recruit balearic slingers, only Carthage and the Lusotannan can recruit them.

Re: No Roman MIC's!!!!!??????
I too am playing a roman campaign. After taking Sardinia and the Baleares from Carthage, I put in type 4 governments because I mistakenly thought the expansion area marker with semitic culture meant I could get semitic troops.:dizzy2: Now, I have level 4 regional MIC in Karalis and still can't train anything besides spies and diplomats. The same is true in the Baleares with a level 2. Is this right? Will I have to wait until the Marian reforms to recruit anything in those provinces? It's annoying because the Carthaginians keep landing stacks of troops in an effort to retake Karalis, and I have to keep shuttling troops back to Italy to retrain them, then bring them back, and God forbid the Carthaginian navy catches my freighters at sea again.

That´s correct you cannot train anything in Sardinia and Baleares (even if Carthago can raise Balear Slinger´s here that not Carthago-only Troops after all  ) until Marian Reform´s you can only buy Merc´s and/or try to catch the Carthago Fleets at sea since the best Roman Warships are better as the best Carthago Warships, train 2-3 Fleets of them in Capua and you should have no more Problems with Carthago.
A good way to deal this is to Conquer the City near Carthago so they have a good target (behind some bridges :laugh4: ) and for you its easier to ship reinforcments from Lilbao in 1 turn to the City.
And after all the Celt Slinger´s better as the Balear...strange but they have the best range from all slinger´s and archer´s in game and much more ammo....so no need for Balear Slinger Merc´s or so.
Re: No Roman MIC's!!!!!??????
^ I envy you. In my campaign M battle/VH campaign, Carthage has done nothing except sit around getting their ass kicked by rebels...

Excuse me that I did not understand this fully. I have the same problem and would be glad about an answer.
My problem is: In the government description (I-IV) you find something like "the lower the gov. number, the more original faction-troops you can recruit". I conquered most of the germanic and gallic countries, and no matter which government I installed (II to IV), I wasn't able to build a pure roman MIC. Even in some italian homeland countries (gov.level I), I wasn't able to build the roman MICs.
My question is: After the marian reforms, I will be able to build in most countries pure roman MICs, where I will be able to recruit roman legionaries?

Yes, you build legions in any town with a level 2 government with the romans after the marian and imperial reforms. Which means basicly all of europe minus germania, brition, and dacia, and in almost all of the near east *Asia Minor, Egypt, the Levant.*
