Bizarre Foods
Hosted by Andrew Zimmern.
I visited some friends last evening and they turned me on to this fantastic show on the Travel Channel. This guy experiences many different and exotic cultures through their food. Last night it was Ecuador (roast guinea pig, piranha, roast tree grubs , plantain, among others), Spain (bulls testicles, suckling pig, exotic hams $80/lb., baby eels $150/plate, barnacles, calves brains), Morocco (spoiled mystery meat omelets, goat couscous with saffron= yummy, Pigeon pie, seafood from sardines to moray eel...) He doesn't visit just fancy pants restaurants either. He hits the native food market stalls, eats with the jungle native families, Berber tribesmen, etc... A very entertaining man (his visit to the Ecudoran Shaman was hysterical), with a cast-iron stomach and a capacity to try anything that is awe inspiring. He sure has given me some great ideas on places I'd like to visit.
