With Silent Hunter 4 out

I decided it is time to buy SH3. I have owned and been playing SHII for many years now, but decided yesterday to go get the next in the series.
I have already bought it, but am wondering if there is anything I should know about it?

Yes there is something you should know; GWX is the ultimate SH3 modification. It completely changes the game and for most once you try GWX there is no going back.

Even SH4 easily pales in comparison to the depth and immersion of GWX.

try subsim.com if you want to download it. It's about 800Megs IIRC.

You do need to patch the game up to the last patch, but there are tons of mods to make the game more enjoyable.

Here is the site one should visit for all things sub related. You will find a huge amount of info and downloads for all sub games and in particular for SH3from general FAQ's to a detailed trainer on how to compute manual torpedo solutions.

They will have all the latests patches or links to them and mods of all sorts--probably more for SH-3 than any other sub sim--plus the forum will be very helpful with your questions.

P.S. I was posting this at the same time as Sinan, so sorry to sound redundant. I am just getting back into SH 3 and have recently downloaded the GWX mod. It comes with a 180 page manual, so be prepared for some serious simming.

Be aware that SH3 carries Starforce protection.

Good, but not impressed. It is Silent Hunter II with better graphics and crew managment. I expected more realism. :(
The only way I could get the GWX was through 6 downloads or torrent. Is there any way I could get it as a single download from fileshack or something?
