I would hope that most would be secure enough in their faith to let such a ridiculous "hypothetical scenario" snafu roll off their backs. Make ones' displeasure known at the next school board meeting and then leave it at that.
This is an excellent opportunity for these parents to demonstrate/teach their children how to act like ideal Christians, and not extremist nutjobs.
You have to wonder why they felt it necessary to paint a scenario for the hostage-takers. Especially given that all of the school shootings have involved singleton nut jobs (or in a memorable case, a duo). The only religiously inspired school shooting I can think of was the one where an anti-Semite shot up a Jewish day care center. Feel free to correct me if I'm forgetting something important.

They needed a back story. So what. If they run the story by the censors beforehand it is no longer "secret' or "a suprise" of a drill.

They could have called the terror group the Symbionese-Hamas-Iraninan-Terror-Bureau-Antiamerican-Liberation-League-Service, which would have been abbreviated as, no I can’t.
Actually, as I said not three or four posts ago, the real-life scenarios in schools almost always involve single nutjobs of no political or religious significance. It seems highly improbable that Muslim terrorists would hold a US school hostage. The situation in Russia was very different. If radical Muslims would undertake such an action in the US it would be to kill them outright. IIRC most of the "Muslim" (Arab, Palestinian, etc) hostage takers do so outside the US like on cruise ships and airplanes.
The trend seems to be on killing US citizens and not taking them as hostages. A "Christian" group would be more probable in the more isolated regions of the country. They'd have demands and want to use the children as leverage.
I think all this reeks of anti-Islamicism and paranoia about terrorism.
Shootings at American schools have been the work of schoolkids, acting as individuals. Preventing it should not be considered counter-terrorism - the phrase War on Terror has clouded judgement. This is the paranoia about terrorism part. This paranoia is concerned with Muslims. PC prevented them from naming this fictional group the Muslim Jihadis or the like - so they chose 'New Crusaders'. This name clearly reflects a mindset concerned with terrorism as a function of a religious clash of civilisations.
It's useless in this respect, and counter-productive for the safety of America's schools.
