Possible to change factions' outfit colours???

hey all,

any ideas about this?

I want to play the Spanish. I hate their yellow armour gear and want to change how their units look both on campaign map but esp on battlefield to two different colours? Is this possible?

I guess (from experience with MTW1 n RTW) i could pick another faction whose colours i liked and swap them over but this can be a pain if you want it to be accurate with names, unit order etc

Any other ways to more simply just change a unit's colour? Yellow n green i mean - ugh - fashion police... :P

presumably somewher in the code is a file specifying colours for each faction, so couldn't i just switch colours for unit armour and banners etc between factions using the info in that file?

Or have an idea where i can find such a file?

get the texture/.dds converter.

1.get ur spanish textures,
2.convert it to ,dds.
3.open it in photoshop. Ur gonna need the nvidea plug in for mipmaps and alpha rendering (or something like that, lol) its on their webpage. allows u to save ur work properly in dtx5 or dtx1 (which ever 1 it opened as)
4. GO TO TOWN on the texure and create ur new colours.

ps. u looking at about a week of retexturing. there is a texture for the banners, attachments, and each unit.

u could also go into the model.db and change the spanish texture to another faction. but now ur gonna look like another faction.

And you won't have all skins.

You also need to edit a few other things, like descr_sm_factions.txt which holds the colors you see on the map, etc.

i think i'll just switch the spanish colours for another faction as seems vastly easier!

which files do i need to alter to do this effectively other than the two you guys have just mentioned?
