Voice acting - a challenge??
I have been playing with the scottish lately, and I really like the voices for them.
There is one mistake, that really gets on my nerves though! When you try to prosecute a heretic the priest says "He won't escape trail sire"........
:furious3:
One could argue that we're sending the heretic down a trail to hell, but more likely the voice-actor got it wrong, and somehow didn't wonder about that statement at all.
Obviously this isn't quality-tested by anyone, actor, CA or Sega. I was wondering if there are any other mistakes like this one in the game?
Re: Voice acting - a challenge??
Isn't that supposed to be the accent ? Tr-ael... ?
Re: Voice acting - a challenge??
ever heard a scott say Trial - its lucky they didnt go for a legit accent - you wouldnt comprhend a word
as a nice aside
I had to go and have dinner once while playing a battle as the scotts, the prebattle speach had obviously ended and the leader was muttering stuff to the troops while they were waiting for me to click 'begin' the battle
He'd say "Frreeddoom" and all the men laughed
or maybe Id just had smoked some extremely potent weed and imagined the whole thing

If that is the accent then I stand corrected. Are any scotsmen able to confirm that?
It really looks to me like the actor got a misspelled line and delivered that without thought.
Re: Voice acting - a challenge??
He might have got a line which indicated emphasis and overdone it, too :grin2:

I don't know. I'm scottish and I think the accent's pretty good.
I mean it's "hammy" but it's better than Gerard butler's Sean Connery impression (and he is scottish!) in 300.
I don't remember that one from my campaign I have to say. I could see how a particularly hammy "Try-ell" could become "tray-ell" but i'd say it should be closer to "tr-eye-ell".
Although the scots don't get the full speeches of the 5 starting nations they get some fantastic one liners.
And, yes, one of the muttered lines is "freedom". An in joke methinks.

Now THAT had a Scottish accent to it.
