Will we ever see a bigger map?
Hi! This is something that i wanted to ask for a long time... EB is a great mod, it just seems that it is too crowded! i was wondering if the new version will have a bigger map? I mean bigger like in roma surrectum and the mtw2 BIGMAP mod... I think that this adds much to the epic part of the game...
I belive that the mod with a bigger map would add even more depth to this extremelly deep game. So if anyone feels like me or against it, please share your thoughts
Cheers

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
I dont think the EB team has any future plans for a larger map since they are already at the limit for settlements.

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
no i don't mean the area the map covers.... Just a bigger italy, N africa, Gaul ecc...

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
He means a bigger distantce between setlemants (bigger regions), like webbirds project. Incedentialy I have always felt that this is the one area that I feel eb has been exceled by another mod.
:sorry2:

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
Pretty sure Medieval 2 has a cap on distance from capital plenty so you can have a massive map and still be able to conquer it all.

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
Oh, well... too bad:thumbsdown:
perhaps someone will make a EB map mod:beam:

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
I have been considering it, but I've got to many things to do at the momment. Try yourself, its not that hard to learn to map.

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
I haven't got the slightest idea how to start such a thing:help:
i'm a complete noob when it comes to modding:oops:

Look in the scriptorium, myrdraal wrote a very good tutorial.

Forget about it. Changes to map have huge consequences across hundreds of meeters of text (game code) that was written (unless its just terrain changes).
Reworking EB map = INSANE.

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
Surley there wouldn't be to many issues provided all the settlements have the same name, or do they have to have the same cordinates as well?
-
Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
There's all those mine and trade resources and such placed all over the map, too. I know I had enough trouble pinpointing the location for the Nisa mine...

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
A bigger map would make the distance from capital pelenty insane If the map was sets say twice the size, it would be impossible to build a historical Roman Empire.

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
But there is a cap on the distance penalty is there not? (or is that just for M2?)

Only MTW2 has modifiable distance penalties, RTW's are hardcoded.

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
I think the map scale shouldd not be the huge size of big map mod, but a just a slight larger scale; maybe a bit smaller than the RTR map would be a good scale.
-
Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
Personally, I don't get what the purpose of the stupid distance penalty anyway.
Any while I'm on the subject, how do you deal with squalor that is out of control when you've built all the infastructure that can be built?
-
Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
Don't build all the structures, it's as easy as that. You should only make farms and granaries when you need it. Temples that do trade goods, troop moral and health should also be avoided for towns that are far away from the centre of your empire, the extra 25 or so public order you get from that helps a lot. Bigger the population is, the less effect the garrison has. I try to aim to get 24,000 peeps in each city so I can get the biggest city upgrade. Then I make stuff like colonies to knock the population back down some.

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
But, if those things aren't built then income levels will go down won't they.
My strategy has always been, build a monster infrastructure so that I can afford as big and well equipt army as I want when ever I want.
Won't not building things like that have an adverse effect the Republic's coffers?

Yes I think it's 80%. Garrison effect cap is also 80%.

So, let me get this straight, those structures only add temporary benifits to public order or population growth and shouldn't be built until needed?
I hope not, because that would be kind of lame...

Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
No they are permanent, but they produce squalor because of the huge population they develop, which means in the long run they are a bad option.
-
Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
Oh,
That makes sense. I suppose I could export the population using Accensii of something.
Is there an easier way to move population from one settlement to another?
-
Re: Will we ever see a bigger map?
Nope, but Levies are your best bet, because of the higher numbers.
