Screenshot of the month poll (May 2007)

We had less than 10 entries, so we will present all of them here now for the vote. It's your turn now to vote and choose a winner. We will keep the poll open for a few days, maybe four or five should be enough, then we will announce the winner.

As mentioned last month, here are some tips to improving them for next time. These aren't rules, by any means, but they will most likely help the composition of your submission:
-Try to make sure there are no tooltip boxes visible.
-Try to clip off the GUI on the bottom of the screen also.
-Green arrows beneath the units don't look very good.
-Faction banners aren't so bad sometimes, but the winners and top choices seem to be the ones without them, so keep that in mind.

2.Dire Straits. There's just so much going on in that picture it actually looks like a real battle. Plus Romani elites vs AS elites FTW!!!:2thumbsup:

Oh right, just noticed the Virgina Sun on their shields. Sorry its just I'm always playing as a western nation like Carthage or Arverni so their all Greeks to me!:embarassed:

Tough choice; Dire Straits really captures the feel of battle, but some of the others have greater composition.

One other thing, wasn't the original goal of the contest to make screenshots fit for the main EB site? Shouldn't that mean post-processing such as in 1 and 4 shouldn't be allowed?

From the start of this contest we said that post-processing was going to be allowed.

Can I suggest picoodle.com and imagehosting.com as alternatives to ImageShack because the latency for loading these images was even more grueling than the EB loading screens on a 500MHz with 64MB RAM. I did have to vote for #2 also as because it's the only scene with flowing movement.

Imageshack has been terrific for us over the years and while some individual members use other stuff, I don't, and seeing how I'm the one that winds up doing this when the deadlines pass each month, even though it's not supposed to be me, they will continue to be hosted by imageshack.

I get complaints now it seems, but no one thanks me for saving them and reuploading them all so that we can use the thumbnails each time to make sure the loading times for this thread are a lot smaller. bah.

So who is supposed to be doing it?

Sorry, but that's not the issue - it's only mentioned because I am the one posting and so I get to choose what the image host will be. It gets done, that's what matters out here.

Sorry, I am a very sarcastic person and was just joking in reference to the EB loading times and latency. Although it is laggy, I wasn't trying to undermine your efforts and the EB team has done more as a modding community than I've ever seen in my life.

I was enchanted by the Numidian Vista and this is what I voted for. The other pics are very good for most part, still that one caught my eye.

It was a though choice, but I finally settled on number 8. The mood of the picture appeals to me. I can almost imagine myself being there.

The easiest choice so far in all SotM polls I've voted in. The only competition Dire Straits really has is the Numidian one, but IMO the latter loses out because of the visible UI. The unit cards I could live with, but the map... *shrug* Very nice otherwise.

Yay! the Poll is gonna close on the same day I graduate from High school!

In defence of my shot having UI, my game is set up with the f5-f8 keys triggering pause, 1*, 2* & 3* speed instead of toggling the UI.
Also I hadn't expected to be taking that, just as I took in the view from their viewpoint, I noticed it was a really pretty setting & had to grab it.

Plus, I kinda like the way the UI brings me back to the fact I get to play this :balloon2:
