Marian reforms...

No, no, no, I'm not going to ask when they happen and all. I have a stranger issue I didn't find in the buglist.
Here are the requirements:

Now, it is spring of the year 199 BC (?!). My faction leader has become consul and simultaneously has received the Reformator trait (!). Yet nothing has changed.

I'm using version 0.81a and there were no other bugs so far (oh except the one when one guy of mine is Senatore and Eques at the same time).

Is this a bug? Or is it meant so? (I thought it is, which is why I posted it here)

Perhaps you've misunderstood the calendar. 199 BC is not after 172 BC...

IIRC the reformater trait is not time-dependent: it merely indicates that a characters has the traits required to trigger the Marian reform. However, the non-character-trait conciditions still need to be met before the reforms occur.

If that general stays alive until 172 BC and you fulfill the other requirements, you will get the Marian reforms (as far as I understand the system).

Think of the reformator trait as an "I want to be Gaius Marius when it's 172 BC" trait.

Oohh, so its is as I've suspected. But it's kinda funny. I mean, "yeah, we've got all the prequisites for a reform...let's just wait for no reason another quarter of a century" :beam: j/k, I understand why it's there.

He's not a pleb, Patricivs, Senatore, all that.

Yeah, uh, "roman" army:beam: It's just me using the mercs in the constant meatgrinder against the Seleucid (they're doing the same, so hey).

The Getai got eaten by the Germans by now. In the north, there's nothing but a big "German Empire" as I like to call it, now battling the Hayasdan and Baktria for some barbarian lands.


So, right, year 172 BC just came - nothing. I mean, really nothing (got all requirements fulfilled of course). I guess it comes at random after 172 BC then?

EDIT: Nevermind! I got them. Seems it's summer 172, to be precise, not spring.

And I can at last do something useful and report a bug: Vigiles seem to be trainable with Marian reforms.
Also, there's the problem of not all buildings appearing on the city menu, simply because there's no space I think. Like in huge cities with everything built plus, say, a uique building, I can't see one or two buildings that I built last.

But did vigiles exist in the Marian era?
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vigiles the vigiles were inaugurated by Caesar Augustus which puts them in the imperial era instead.

Their internal name is "roman infantry imperial vigiles". I believe that Marian Vigiles are meant to represent Latin garrison troops. Making them the same unit saves unit space and prevents the need to disband one unit and create a new one when you get the Imperial reforms.

Marcus, is that in their description? If not, we may just want to split the desc up to indicate the shift in organization and prominence over time.
