Waiting for the Mongols...
I wanted to show ya guys this pic of a typical stack that is waiting for the fateful year of 1231...
http://www.geocities.com/dremlangs/L...s/image001.png
The stack I'm showing is my Grand Duke (playing Lithuania)
as you can see, I have Boyars.. and LOTS of them. I also have loads of Varangian guards, Halberders, mounted crossbowman, Pavice arbelesters and others...so with 18 stacks, I will meet the Mongols espected 19 stacks...
What I love about this stack?
Look at the nice Valor.. 4's and 5's for full units..:). My Prince has a 9 valor and high armor. The Grand Duke has 7 Valor and 8 command..:)
++++++++++++
As you can see from the strategic map, there are 3 super-powers, me, the french and the Byz.
The French are the richest, the Byz have the biggest military, and I am the tech geek...and the 3 of us are allied together..:)
++++++++++++
Here is the question...
When they arrive next turn. Should I...
a) keep Khazar and go straight after them
b) Blow out Khazar and then go after them in case I loose?
c) play defensive and force them to go south toward "weaker" provs...lol.. who are owned by the Byz
d) something else?
Re: Waiting for the Mongols...
d) - put all those stacks in Khazar BEFORE they arrive ~D
Re: Waiting for the Mongols...
e) play with homelands, reduced general stars and no campaign bonuses and upgrades :beam:
Re: Waiting for the Mongols...
Forget b through d, just go after them. Let them have Volga Bulgaria or Georgia so that you can ransom the Khan. I took in a "Golden Hoard" of over 88K in florins.

Post how much ransom you get. Good luck!

What are we waiting for, gathered here in the agora?
The barbarians are supposed to show up today.
Why is there such indolence in the senate?
Why are the senators sitting around, making no laws?
Because the barbarians are supposed to show up today.
Why should the senators trouble themselves with laws?
When the barbarians arrive, they’ll do the legislating.
Why has our emperor risen so early this morning,
and why is he now enthroned at the city’s great gate,
sitting there in state and wearing his crown?
Because the barbarians are supposed to show up today.
And the emperor is waiting there to receive
their leader. He’s even had a parchment scroll
prepared as a tribute: it’s loaded with
all sorts of titles and high honors.
Why have our two consuls and praetors turned up
today, resplendent in their red brocaded togas;
why are they wearing bracelets encrusted with amethysts,
and rings studded with brilliant, glittering emeralds;
why are they sporting those priceless canes,
the ones of finely-worked gold and silver?
Because the barbarians are supposed to show up today;
And such things really dazzle the barbarians.
Why don’t our illustrious speakers come out to speak
as they always do, to speak what’s on their minds?
Because the barbarians are supposed to show up today,
and they really can’t stand lofty oration and demagogy.
Why is everyone so suddenly ill at ease
and confused (just look how solemn their faces are)?
Why are the streets and the squares all at once empty,
as everyone heads for home, lost in their thoughts?
Because it’s night now, and the barbarians haven’t shown up.
And there are others, just back from the borderlands,
who claim that the barbarians no longer exist.
What in the world will we do without barbarians?
Those people would have been a solution, of sorts.
