CTD at start of general killed battle video
Hi, this is my first post, and I hope I'm getting it in the right place. I just got M2TW this past weekend, and patched up to 1.2, bought a new computer with a GeForce 7900 to run it all on, and it is beautiful. I have been experiencing a recurring problem though that I haven't seen in my searches for a solution. When in battle, and a general is killed, either mine or the enemies, when the event starts to zoom in, the game CTD's, with an unspecified error message. It's soooooo frustrating when just as I'm about to utterly destroy the enemy that I have to restart the game. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

hey, wellcome aboard ~
i wouldnt say its a bug, i've gotten the same effect (well minus the ctd, it just stalled for a bit and got sorted)when generals get killed, that was when i only had 512 megs of ram, once i upgraded to 1 gig its all been fine and dandy.
Re: CTD at start of general killed battle video
No, I've got a gig of ram, my new computer is well suited to run it, I can run everything on the highest settings. But I think I've found a quick fix in altering the files to turn off the Battle Events that I found somewhere else.

That's great Shane ! Can you please post a link to that fix (how to remove cutscenes). I would have answered this but I forgot what it was and I did'nt save the link befire. Would like to save it now.
Welcome Aboard !
Re: CTD at start of general killed battle video
Have not tried this yet, so don't know if it works for sure, but it makes sense because it always crashes during the cutscene when a general dies.
quote from totalwarforums.com:
"It works for me, but had one major glitch which can be fixed pretty easily. Every time a cutscene would occur (like a wall being broken through or a general getting killed), a crash to desktop would occur.
Editing the medieval2.preference.cfg file in the game directory, by changing "event_cutscenes = 1" to "event_cutscenes = 0" (without the quotes) fixes the problem. Of course, you can't see the cutscenes, but at least it doesn't crash now.
Couldn't find the link, but luckily I had saved the quote in an email to myself.
