Target building descriptions

I am making a mod to add a new faction (Titanocene dicarbonyl) to the game, however the mod only loads to the title screen then crashes. When I checked the log.txt I found this error.

Does anyone know what is causing this error or how I can fix it?

Check the txt file holding all building descriptions (some enums file) and the stringbin file that is loaded that contains all descriptions. The latter probably not as important as it wouldn't cause a crash unless you edited it by hand and made an error.

I've checked the following files:

data\descr_building_battle.txt & descr_building_battle_enums.txt (neither mention these buildings and they're not faction specific)

data\export_descr_buildings.txt (my faction is listed under all the 'building convert_to_castle' and 'building convert_to_city' buildings)

data\export_descr_buildings_enums.txt (my faction's culture is listed here)

data\text\building_battle.txt (does not mention these buildings and is not faction specific).

data\text\export_buildings.txt (my faction's culture is listed here)

Are there any other files concerning buildings.

Also the error mesage itself is odd since a village, not a town is converted to a wooden castle; though a large town does convert to a castle.

Hmmm why does your text folder have txt files? You need the game to load string.bin files unless you only have the txt files there at the moment to make it autoconvert.

You are also saying a village is converted to a wooden castle. I think by default that it is converted to a motte and bailey. Have you tried changing that part and seeing whether it still crashes? I read somewhere on TWV before that modifying the convert to castle/city 'buildings' can lead to problems.

From the looks of the error message, the game is expecting to find an entry in the buildings_enums file for town->wooden castle too

I've never had any problems having text files instead of string.bin files.

I said that a village converts to a wooden castle because this is how it is described in the buildings_enums file (I'm assuming you mean data\export_descr_buildings_enums.txt), though in the game a Village does become a Motte and Bailey castle. Here are the entries associated with converting a building from the the buildings_enums file (which building they relate to is in brackets).

village_to_wooden_castle (village to motte and bailey)
small_town_to_stone_keep (town to wooden castle)
large_town_to_castle (large town to castle)

wooden_castle_to_village (motte and bailey to village)
stone_keep_to_small_town (wooden castle to town)
castle_to_large_town (castle to large town)
large_castle_to_city (fortress to city)
fortress_to_city (citadel to city)

I have already added my culture's name to all of these (I'm making a new culture). I have not in any other way altered the city to castle conversion entries (except by adding my new culture to them).

I don't think the enums file actually does anything.

Okay I've figure what I was doing wrong. I'm going to post it here incase anyone else has the same problem. In the data\export_descr_buildings.txt file I altered several buildings' tech tree so that some buildings had to be built before other could be built, however I miscoded the the castle buildings by stating that they needed the city version, rather the castle version. Since city buildings cannot be built in a castle the game crashed.
