400,000 pounds for this? Hah! That low rumble the British can hear from the east would be the entire nation of France rolling on the floor laughing.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
the other day I heard on Sky News this being refereed to as "innovative"....and I nearly laughed my ass off :laugh4:
it looks like some retro 80's piece of design.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
Looks to me like somebody was a sleep in their Logo and Branding 101 class. Yikes! What a mess of a symbol! The Brits should get their money back.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
They could've found an uglier logo... but I don't think it would've been easy.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
So London's 2012 olympic logo depicts Macy Gray performing unspeakable acts on a couching midget?

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
Anyone notice a resemblance to the Tiswas logo?
This really is awful. The BBC ran a competition for people to submit their own. Most of them are far better. Clicky.
I think that 3 is the best, personally.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
If you ever think your nuts, or your fellow backroomers are nuts keep this thread in mind. Someone somewhere thought this was brilliant, and someone else approved that brilliance.

I liked the first. But any of those are better than the official one.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
I think we like the same one-the one listed as first on the ballot and the third picture?

[bad humor] This is what you get when you let snobby art majors pick designs for events instead of normal people. [/bad humor]

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
The one identified as 'logo 3' would get my vote.
-except for the stupid slogan under it. Nix that.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
What the hell? :fainting:
None of those others were good either.. whats wrong with Britain? No art majors??
-
Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
Well, bear in mind the other ones were just submitted by members of the public.
-
Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
I liked reader submission #4 best of all, but I have to echo that the one they officially chose is by far the worst of the bunch. It looks like you gave a bunch of puzzle pieces to a monkey who drank too much Red Bull.
And I have to disagree with Panzer. Beyond the one I chose, several of the others were fine. All but the official one would have been acceptable (if, as Xiahou suggested, they drop that corny 'the Olymics is in us' line, which I'm sorry, just has smutty connotations all over it...)

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
I think this demonstrates beyond the smallest shadow of a doubt that the people running our Kingdon are either insane or incompetant.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
All this time I had thought Paris won the 2012 bid :surrender2: .
Definately gotta say, whoever payed 400,000 for that got ripped off.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
Psst, fellow Brits; is it too late to try to pass this off as another manifestation of our famous sense of humour?
Still, it's not all bad. My firm's recent rebranding exercise now looks remarkably high quality and excellent value for money, which is certainly not what I said at the time. And as Prole points out, we have given the French a laugh. Its an ill wind etc

Despite that, I agree.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
Does it represent London Bridge falling down? Slap an eye on it and call it a Picasso.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
Out on a limb: I think the logo isn't bad at all. It takes getting used to.
Four hundred thousand quid for this is TEH joke though..

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
As all over Sydney at 2000 sites and in Darling Harbour you will see the Sydney 2000 logos. You do realize that the logo will be plastered on London Olympic sites until you win the next London Olympics in say about 2080...
If Sydney wants flamboyant, colourful cubic midgets giving head jobs we've got the mardi gra...

Adrian, haven't we talked about posting while high? Yes, I know, color trails. Yes, I know, the whole world is made of music, man. Just sit down, breathe deep, and remember that you're connected to the planet earth, who loves you.

Re: London 2012 Olympic Emblem
The true grand foolishness of this is not apparent until you think about some things you could buy for 400,000 pounds. A lot of food for starving people, a lot of scholarships, a lot of imported dentists.
So, whenever you look at that, think, 'That piece of crap cost 400,000 people a hot meal'.
