Now that I have figured out how to make screenshots, what is the best way to post them?
Do I need to convert the .tga files? What FREE conversion software do you recommend?
How do the rest of you typically post screenshots?

You do need to convert the tga files. Use FastStone Imager Viewer. It is free and it can convert tga files.

IrfanView is by community concensus the best conversion tool available (I wouldn't know - I use photoshop ~;)).
Once you've converted the images to jpeg format, you can use the imageshack toolbar (one of the advanced reply options) to upload and post it.
Let me know if you have any problems with that and I'll do a more in-depth tutorial
I have done my first successfully posting of images but they appear only as thumbnails. How do I get them full-screen?
You should have been given a selection of links from imageshack - pick the correct one from the bottom set, which are the full images (the top set are thumbnails)
Switch imageshack to classic view, it will display the code for forums both as thumbnails and for fullscreen (under the embeddable code section).
Otherwise, you can edit the code by hand. The code you got for thumbnails looks like this :

Remove the parts I highlighted in red.
EDITED according to sapi's suggestion below, thanks.
@Ars Moriendi - In future, [noparse] will allow you to write it in full without having to use <
Thanks all of you. I Found IfRanView to be the best free service.
I just mastered how to post images. See my thread about England if you would care to see the results.
