It is certainly possible to make historical characters appear at certain dates, or to ensure that Carthage and Rome go to war at the correct time, but the team has stated repeatedly that this is not going to happen. After all, the war between Carthage and Rome may have been inevitable, but it would not necesarily have occured at the exact same date as in history, nor would the same characters have appeared if events had unfolded differently. The mod sets the stage correctly for 272 B.C., but how it unfolds after that is up to the player.
We should add this to the bloody FAQ, if we haven't already.
People dont read the faq anyway :P
