Say hello to my little friend
In current Julli game I have taken over the whole of spain except one last Spanish region. I wanted to force a surrender and have them become a protectorate, just to see what it was like.
However no matter what I offered (22000 in cash at the last count) or who I sent (a good diplomat and an army) they will not accept. I've tried a combination of money, threats and a quick seige to ram home the point but had no joy at all.
Has anyone got some experience of getting this type of process to work? Are some factions more less likely to surrender? Does being Roman count against a player more?
One last point is that the senate has now asked me to get this surrender as well and while I realise I can attack and just take the region I want to get at least one protectorate at some stage in the game. The Britons being my next target.

if i am not wrong ,that you need at least 100k(100,000) denarii to do that,i do it last time when senate ask me(as Scipii) to make a faction(1 last city left) become protectorate of Romans, the time i do it was i am owning more than 40 cities and i offer 100k denarii to them......:sweatdrop:since i have 4M denarii in my coffer,it is a small amount....and that is the time i lost my 4M(4000000)
But after become my protectorate,Brutii destroyed them.........
Re: Say hello to my little friend
I've read before that if you have a big army right on thier boarder or in thier territory that makes them more likely to become a protectorate, cash and settlements work usually, if they are the last faction alive then chances are they will attack as soon as they have an army either way.
Re: Say hello to my little friend
Try offering 2 or 3 settlements along with the money, I got quite a few protectorates that way.
Re: Say hello to my little friend
No point in doing so, IMHO. When they are down to 1 settlement you might as well take them out. Even when you have a surrender mission from the senate and destroy them instead, the mission won't count as failed. It will simply be aborted, so you don't have a negative reputation hit with the senate.
Re: Say hello to my little friend
Yes I'm aware that would be the easy option, but as I have stated I just want to try this out.
I'll try offering a couple of regions with some money to see what reaction I get.
Re: Say hello to my little friend
no reason to try it but once ...
you will always be backstabed ... and revolts - rebel brigands - appear more often there ... and if you annihilate a "respectable protectorate" your reputation will drop drastically .. so bie bie diplomacy ...
save ... try it ... load
