Blasted Soundblaster! Need help asap
Hi guys,
my Creative Soundblaster Audigy is acting strange. I'm wondering if I have accidently damaged it. Here's the situation:
- When I use small Speakers at the Headphone-out it's okay.
- When I use an Amp with large speakers at the Headphone-out it's okay.
- When I use a Headset at the Headphone-out it's not okay.
Not okay meaning I don't hear anything. (When I turn the volume up and down I hear noise) The other two ways work but I feel that the signal is weaker than before. And yes, the Headset is working fine with an MP3 player. It's not the headset.
This all happened after I tried to record vinyl LP's to my PC using this tutorial.
I did this before and had everything set up accordingly. What I might have done wrong, is to feed an audio signal into the headphone-out of the soundcard at one point. Can I do any damage this way?
Any other ideas what may be wrong? I tried to reboot, checked all hardware and software settings, etc.

This is driving me insane. :wall:
I tried the headset on another machine and it works perfectly fine.
When I plug it into my audigy card it won't work. I can still only produce a sound signal with either desktop-speakers or via my amplifier.
I've reinstalled the audigy driver and tried to enable "digital only" output to no avail.

What sort of headset is it, does it have a seperate connector for the microphone? I'm asking because the "headset" of my cellphone has all connectors in one plug so obviously you cannot connect it with just anything.
A normal PC headset should be fine, in that case I really don't know.

No, it's a normal PC headset.
After some googling I'm pretty certain that I've fried the audio-out of the soundcard by feeding a too strong signal into it. I've read several warnings that one should adjust the output volume cautiously etc. Others say that the currents are too low to do any damage.
I guess I've to replace it.

Dude, it's going to be just a 3.5mm line jack. that's what they all use, nothing like the proprietry connectors used by mobile phones. It's a standard, a bit like a USB port.

Dude, I know that, but my mobile phone has a 2.5mm line jack with three connectors so if I tried to use a standard 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter with only three connectors I'd get a problem though it seems to work for some people with some adapters etc. ~;)
And no, it's not a Nokia phone.
