Well, they are supposed to be medium infantry, and you have been misled by the name of the Ambakaro. The real Lusotana elites are the Dosidataskeli, and those are among the meanest, leanest and heaviest of the elites.
The Ambraco are pretty much elites on their own... Use them to flank. they are best at hand to hand combat as their morale is as high as it gets and their 12 attack armor piercing swords can make a big mess out of units who seem better statwise.
Cheers...
What are
Dosidataskeli

and really nasty they are too. Hmm, I didn't know Ambakaro had AP swords. Must be because I'm facing them with milites, scutari and caetrati. Alright, that makes Ambakaro giant-killers. They're ordinary against ordinary troops, but against heavy ones they will rock.
They have 20 morale, only 2 less than gaesatae and 4 more than praetorians.
Dont mess with them, you'll not like it.
Aaaaactually, I messed with them and they were rather pathetic once my brihentin came up in their rear. Hmm. And I wasn't playing on Easy or anything. o.O
They always performed well enought to me. Their only problem is to be so few, but well used will make their task.
I am under the impression you shouldn't mess with Brihentin either. :inquisitive: They've been my uber killer machine in an Aedui campaign. :skull:
Exactly. I use one unit of Brihentin in all my Roman legions instead of the Gallic or any other auxiliary cav. Kick-ass :2thumbsup:
That's a great campaign, isn't it? I am thoroughly enjoying my Aedui game and even their lighter troops are excellent.Quote:

Casse are great too.
Skepas? what is that. o.O Yeah, Brihentin are nasty. My legions currently consist of 10 units of citizen infantry, 6 units of foreign troops to form an ala (usually 6 Neitos in the north and 6 Hoplitai/Samnitici in the south) and my cavalry wing is made up of 4 foreign cavalry, either 4 Brihentin in the north and west, or 4 Extraordinarii in the south. 1337! XD
The point being, don't mess with Brihentin. They are widely recruitable, and they kick major a**.
