The pope won't call a crusade on Orthodox factions. He can't.
The only way to go to war otherwise with him is by him attacking you (very very rare) which would require you to hold one of the small Italian islands or Valencia.

I won't vote this time though.

Well, if he can't call a crusade against me, and it's unlikely he'll declare war, that leaves the wandering Papal Army trespassing on my lands as a Casus Belli.

I wonder if the Pope will like hanging out near Genoa in the AAR as he has had in my other games.

Nope, code prevents the call (if its not in muslim hands at the time of call). Only thing that usually gets called on constantinople is jihad.

No, I don't think yet, I'd wait till the empire is more secure in the east. But given it is a victory condition maybe sooner rather than later id better.

Attack that place, It'll spice things up for sure. The Papacy in exile will most likely do anything to get Rome back, come hell or high water.

Hmmmmm, public opinion seems to be sliding toward a reclaiming of Rome. It would provide good story fodder, let me think about it.
