Spanish Gendarmes false-advertizement
hello, I'm posting here because I was annoying to find out the Spanish Gendarmes' horses are only plate mailed on the unit card, I for one have a strange attraction to the shiny plate mail, and therefore like plate mailed units.. so I was deeply dissapointed to find out this was false-advertizement, has anyone else noticed this?
Re: Spanish Gendarmes false-advertizement
Well you could mod it so that gendarmes had plate armored horses. Go to mod section to find out how
Re: Spanish Gendarmes false-advertizement
Hmm there's something strange here : the gendarmes are shown with plate on the icon and unit card, but chainmail on the description scroll and the real model. Must be some sort of communication failure in the developer team.
If it's only the looks you care about, go fall in love with the French lancers, those guys are proper tin cans ~:)
Re: Spanish Gendarmes false-advertizement
I never built them because of the cost vs stats. Knights of Santiago forever!
Re: Spanish Gendarmes false-advertizement
Just to let you know, conquistadors also show the same ad-failure, on their card the rider is wearing renaissance style plate but a full ug conquistador only has partial plate.
Re: Spanish Gendarmes false-advertizement
Anyone got a simple way to fix it? I was going to play the Spanish next :(
Re: Spanish Gendarmes false-advertizement
Conquistadors can have their armour upgraded, can't they? I don't think that any unit has the non-Lancer non-Gothic Renaissance plate armour by default.
Re: Spanish Gendarmes false-advertizement
Barding never gets upgraded by armor upgrades. Only the rider's armor changes.
Barding is a function of what type of mount the unit is riding. It's quite simple to change.
In the "export_descr_unit.txt" file, (I'm not going to explain how to unpack files, here.) search for the unit you want to change. Look for the "mount" line. The types of horse are...
fast pony
pony
camel
heavy horse
barded horse
mailed horse
eastern armored horse
armored horse
Change that line to the one you want. (Probably "armored horse").
Have fun!
Re: Spanish Gendarmes false-advertizement
So if I put "camel" in there I'd get Gendarmes riding camels?
Re: Spanish Gendarmes false-advertizement
With respect to the conquistadors, I believe the issue was the rider's armour, not the horse's.
