Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
It has already been asked for, but here's the long awaited August screenshot competition submission thread! Now where are those award winning screenshots?
The rules again:
- Every fan can participate but can only submit one screenshot every month.
- Full screens, only the UI is allowed to be cropped out.
-You are allowed to edit them with photoshop, it is however not a requirement.
- All images must come from EB.
-All screenshots must be send in before the last week of the month in this thread.
Now how will we choose the winner? Well the EB-team will elect the 10 best (if the amount of submissions require it). A poll will be opened the last week of the month, in which the fans can cast their vote. The winner will be the one who got the most votes. The poll will close the last day of the month. The next day submissions for the next month can be made in a new thread.
Good luck and best wishes,
-The EB Team.
note: all screens must be in before the 24th of August!

You be the judge as to who is getting slaughtered. The Romani in the foreground are partly surrounded, though the Romani unit in the distance is about to throw a shower of Pilae upon my Hysteroi Pezhetairoi...slightly countered by my archers firing from behind the screen :juggle2:

How do the Triballoi perform against the Legionaries? How far are you into your campaign as you managed to encounter Marians?
-
Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
I think that is a custom battle, since polybian reforms under the AI seems very rare indeed.
:2thumbsup:
but hey! maybe he's a lucky one.

Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
That was a custom battle. The triballoi dont do half bad...moderately effective against the legionaries. also the last unit to rout.
-
Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
Those Thracians are a tough bunch of guys arent they? :laugh4:
-
Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
Indeed. My Greek and celtic units routed first. The triballoi routed last, and i had a thracian peltast unit that routed 4 times in that battle and still wanted to come back and kick some butt.

Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
:shocked3:
2 questions:
1. Whats the magnificent city in the far distance barely visible in the morning mist? :laugh4:
2. How do you get the enemy AI to actually attack your Phalanx head on, or is it just because you were defending the town?
-
Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
Simple: take your time to arrange your troops so they face the AI's head to head...
EDIT: If you're an experienced Successor player that shouldn't be too hard to do. Just some trial and error - and a bit of micromanagement regarding formation cohesion etc.

Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
Done and failed, All they do is rotate, and as I've state before, they only turn and turn and turn until we are doing a pointless circular dance that the God's laugh at. :inquisitive:

I never move much at all. Best is to stay were you are if possible. Give the AI time to arrange their troops. Slowly march towards them, don't click attack, just ram them head on. And you have to micromanage. Generally I hate sallying forth battles because it's such a strain to get all the units out and arrange them...

I actually leave the city through the back gate, furthest from where the enemy is, so that I can deploy quitely and then move and face them in the open. But agreed, it's a nuisance.

Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
I've never been attacked by the AI when marching out of the front gate. In fact, they tend to withdraw and line up far away from the gate. Why do you choose the back gate?

Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
u know- i should have read the rules for the last competition- i cropped out the sides of my better screen, so i did this one instead:
"Spartans awaiting the Persian onslaught at Thermopylae"

If they don't withdraw far enough and they have slingers, for instance. Secondly, like you said, they withdraw, usually to the left or right, so that to face them properly I either need to make an unwieldy turn close to the walls, or march forward and expose my flanks. This may be due to the fact that I prefer wide battle lines, though.
This don't count for big cities, actually. I was thinking mainly of forts.

Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
I really like Sunset Slaughter! Wondering what sort of filter you apply on the screeny before publishing it Megas Pyrrhos :2thumbsup:
-
Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
Another reason why one should play the Pahlava :2thumbsup:
-
Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
really.... whats the reason? o wait...... i know. but arent the units in the picture AS units?
-
Re: Screenshot of the month submission thread (august)
The ones in the foreground are the Zradha Pahlavans, a Pahlava unique, while the ones in the background are probably AS Prodromoi.

I used photoshop 7.0, and used auto level, then auto color, then auto contrast. Also, and i dont remember exactly, but I may of brightened certain parts of the picture using different layers and their various opaque levels :shame:
