need some help with M2TW freezing

that's the long and short of it. it just bugs out and freezes. the music becomes a loud high pitched tone and the only solution is to restart the PC. so i checked my log and it is just FULL of stuff. problem is, i don't know how to decipher it.

there are a lot of system.io warnings and data.missing warnings. here is the top tagline:

i am running 1.02v from a clean install with updates.

Turn your PC off, disconnect the power cable, make sure you have no static on yourself and open the case, have a look at the cooling fans, they might be full of dust which could cause your system to overheat.
If you're uncomfortable with that or it doesn't help, post here again. It just sounds like overheating to me.
You could also post whether you have similar problems in other new 3D games, what your system specs are, etc.

this never happened prior to the new patch. the PC does nothing of the sort during any other game. recent (last 6 months) games played:

all of the KOTOR series
all of the Jedi Knight series
Empire at War
Civ 4
AoE 3
RTW w/expansion
Battlefield 2
Europa Universalis 3
Battlefront 2


i used a dust free spray on my system about 2 months ago when i was trying to upgrade my video card (which was unsuccessful without reinstalling my entire PC). my internal temp stays between 80F and 85F degrees, because i do have one fan that went out (previously it stayed between 77F and 80F).

Well, what yopu played in the last six months doesn't matter if your fan is dusty today. ~;)
But you could also try reinstalling the whole game and patch, maybe update your drivers.

you had asked about certain types of games played so i just listed everything i could think of so far this year. i already did a clean install of the game and patched it. one question i have is do you NEED to install 1.1 before 1.2? i did, but if i didn't need to...

and as i said, i cleaned my system pretty recently. there's nothing down there but what's supposed to be. my drivers are the current version for my card. as i said, this has NEVER happened previous to the 1.2 patch, and has never happened with any other game. so maybe help me with what kinds of things i should be looking for in the system log...

ok, so basically i did a piss poor job on patching the game. i did something screwy with 1.1 that messed everything up. unfortunately my syslog is still over 100kb in txt. so it's what i posted x3. i just don't understand why they can't fix everything...

If I remember correctly, you should reinstall everything before updating with the newest patch.

Like i said, reinstall. And 1.2 is installed over the unpatched game.
Deleting files is only necessary if you use the unpacker. Don't remember the filenames, you should be able to find them somewhere on the forum or maybe someone else can name them.
