Problem patching Medieval 2 to 1.2

Hi all, I'm having a bit of a problem patching M2TW to 1.2. The installation will start and continue fine until it reaches the file data_1.pack, where it will hang(I left it running for 2 hours once just to see if it was being slow, but it never did complete).

I'm patching from the Kingdoms DVD currently, but I had the same problem a few months ago when I tried to update by downloading the patch. I've done a fresh install but it hasn't helped the problem at all. The base game unpatched, as well as patch 1.01 will run fine and haven't given me any trouble.

I'd really like to play the new expansion so I hope y'all can help me with this. I can provide my dxdiag and whatnot if you'd think it would help, but it is quite long so I don't want to post it unnecessarily.

Ah, I found it working this morning.

I hadn't modified any of the base files, since I had done a fresh install of the base game prior to trying to install kingdoms. Its just that the patch somehow took six hours to complete. I had started trying to patch it again last night, then went to eat dinner and forgot about it. When I woke up this morning it had patched the game up to 1.3 and just had to install kingdoms, which only took 10-15minutes.

I'm not sure why it took that long to finish patching, but everything seems to be in working order. Thank you for your advice though.
