The EB Google Earth Game

After enjoying the Google Earth game that goes on in the Tavern gameroom, and having messed around with EB locations in Google Earth quite a bit, I thought I'd try this.

I'll show here a shot from Google Earth of either an EB city or a wonder (i.e., "unique building"). You guess which one it is. Feel free to use Google Earth to figure it out, *but* don't cheat and use the EB .kmz file we made available not too long ago. That's no fun. :skull:

It shouldn't take too long on most of these. Here's the first one!

The Acropolis of Athens

I don't think so, where's the amphitheatre at the foothill? The Parthenon should also be in the larger square, not in the back.

Also, lacks urbanization.

I thought I knew what it was, so I looked it up on Google Earth to be sure and I was right. I won't say, though, since I cheated.

At least it looks Greek. Nah, too big of a world for me to start guessing.

I thought it could be the forum (or whatever is the EB wonder there, but no coliseam...

Forum Romun?! Didn't exist in our time frame. ~;) Capitolium? Nah, not urbanized enough.

No one has it yet? I thought that peculiar shape to the main building would be enough of a unique thing to make it more likely someone would get it.

It doesn't look Greek to me, the circular building adjoining it is quite odd. Carthaginian perhaps?

Allright, if no-one else is going for it. Temple complex of Baalbeck, Lebanon, clearly identifiable due to the hexagonal building on the eastside. Part Phoenician, part Roman at least.

Riiiight, on the tip of my tongue. How about if we start from Stonehenge and make our way up from there? ~:shock:

OK so I don't recognize the pic but how can that have been mistaken for the Athens Acropolis?! :dizzy2:

People thinking it looks Greek and thinking it looks in ruins. That must be it.

However, having seen some German picutes of this site made in 1936 I can confirm that there´s more to the Akropolis of Athens than just that.

Oh yeah, it was amazing walking around there.

Is that the pyramids of El Kurru in Sudan? The one with where all those nubian kings and queen are buried right? Or am I way off? I think I remember seeing them on Discovery channel.

Well maybe were splitting hairs here but technically i believe those are the Pyramids of Gebel Barkal.

It is also very easy to see the land walls of Constantinople using Google Earth

Gaias and Lysander13 got it right. It really looks a lot like you'd expect it to given the photo even of it in the game

Hmmm....This one has me a little stumped so far.....

OMG those are real photos?! they remind me of maps out of Close Combat (oh how i miss that lovely game)... those satellite cameras suck
